RIP Tiger Stadium

It has finally been torn down. Its life after TIgers included subbing for Yankee Stadium in the Billy Crystal movie *61 (ironic, since Detroit had been the toughest competitors, and strongest NYY haters, in that legendary 1961 season), and a proposal to use it for the home-run derby when the all-star game came to Detroit a couple of years ago.

I am sad to hear of Tiger Stadium's demise.

A buddy of mine and I traveled to Detroit during the stadium's final season and saw two games there. Although I also really enjoyed my previous trips to Wrigley and Fenway, I thought Tiger Stadium was just an awesome place to see a ballgame. On that trip, it became my favorite ballpark. Too bad it had to fall into disuse, and too bad it is now totally gone.

That's sad. I wish I had been able to see a game there. I feel fortunate to have been able to see games at Yankee Stadium. There are only two classic ballparks left, and I haven't been to either of them. I'm going to have to get to Chicago and Boston to see games there very soon...

Make the trip(s), make the trip(s), make the trip(s)!!

A group of us went to Tiger Stadium its last year.

Our weekend was unseasonably cold. We ended up buying hoodies with "Detroit" and a classic auto on the front.

My cousin works for GM and we all went to Greektown for dinner.

A terrific trip.

It is sad.

I loved seeing games at that park.

Too much sad news in the area: falling home prices, a possible GM/Chrysler merger, a mayor who shamed the region.

Let's discuss something to make Detroiters feel good: The Lions

Oh well, nevermind
