Woman (age 25-30) ahead of me at the post office this morning was complaining to the P.O. clerk about how cold she was (the outside temperature was around 35 F or so). I looked at her. She was wearing a thin undershirt with a hood (not pulled up), a sweatshirt and jeans. With flip-flops. I just shook my head in disbelief.

When it's too cold for flip flops, it's cold!

I made the switch to socks and slippers on Saturday. Record high on Thursday; cold front on Friday. I suppose the money I save on running the pool pump and heater will be offset by the furnace costs inside. I'm bundled up, but Erin likes to run around in her (Hello Kitty!) undies. She kept her nightie on today!

Oh, you poor thing!

Have you actually shut down the pool for the season, now?

We have had frost on the grass for a few weeks now, in the morning.

Big J still likes to wear his Hawaiian style short sleeve shirts.

I keep suggesting he may wish to wear a hoodie or jacket.

He says that just because I'm cold doesn't mean heneeds to dress warmer.

I swear we have twins separated at birth! Rain Man needs to live in San Diego or someplace you can appropriately wear a t-shirt in January. Because he does.

I always heard the saying "a sweater is what you wear when your Mom is cold..."

Native Chicagoans love the cold. It was 59 degrees yesterday and several people were driving with their convertible tops down. Most of the kids at the bus stop don't start wearing a coat until it gets below 40. But let the temp get over 75 and people are dying from the heat. The parents want the city to pay to put A/C in all the elementary schools. They have 80 degrees for maybe one week and then the rest of the time it is not below 80 for the year.

Not yet. I checked to see if it's going to warm up, and it's not going to be warm enough to offset the Leaf Battle, plus it's one of those years where the acorns are abundant. :( So I'm gonna get out all the leaves and stuff, then call Scott.

It was chilly enough here that I felt compelled to pick up the remote to light my gas fireplace. It wouldn't light. I think the pilot light is out.  Now I gotta work on deciding if I can light it myself or call someone to do it for me.

I can be quite resourceful around here when necessary. However, when it comes to things that are connected to the gas line, I figure it would be best if I didn't try to blow up the entire house. My future SIL is a LT. in the fire department, so maybe he'll help me with it rather than me having to pay someone.
