Oscar winning director of Marty. Mann only directed a few movies, including Separate Tables (which won acting Oscars for David Niven and Wendy Hiller). He got his start in television, including the original TV version of Marty, and spent the last thirty years of his career doing TV movies. His best known TV movie, ironically, was Heidi, which became infamous for preempting the end of a Jets/Raiders football game so that fans missed the game winning touchdown.
Age 87.
