The difference is that Ifshin is apologetic about his earlier activities (which didn't involve bombing innocent people). Ayers has said that his group didn't do enough bombings, etc.

You forgot Rule #1: It's only OK if you're a Republican. Pay no attention to the fact that the Chicago Annenberg Project had mostly Republicans on its board and its founder, Lenore Annenberg, is a top McCain supporter.

No one is saying otherwise. They're saying Obama got the job because of his ties to Ayers, who was on the board, and once he got the job he seems to have done an unremarkable job. But it wasn't his money he was spending, so it's ok!

An interesting speech by McCain.

I think the Ifshin thing appears to be a little different than Ayres because he did, indeed, apologize/repent/whatever you want to call it and felt he'd made a mistake. Ayers is unrepentantly sort of anti-American up to this day (Fugitive Days) and an educational trainwreck as well. And he recruited Obama for the Annenberg Challenge. During all those years they had little to no contact? Hmmm.
I don't think he'd (Ayers) would be your best bet as a friend in a bar fight.
Well, maybe he'd just knock everybody off.
