Sorry I'm late but it was a late night of work. Today's category is science and here is your question:

What 19th century scientist is considered "the father of modern antisepsis"?

Remember to assign a point value.

Yesterday's answer to what color is the outside ring of an archery target is white.

My comments
Hmmmm. I was thrown off by the description as a "scientist." I certainly thought of Lister, but my memory (which could be wrong) is that Lister was a practicing physician, not a research scientist.

Lister

My understanding is that he began the practice atomizing dilute solutions of phenol (carbolic acid) over the surgical field. He is rumored to have begun surgeries by calling for quiet and saying, "Let us spray" [Sounds just like 'Let us pray']. Surgeons of that time would get exposed to considerable quantities of phenol and would develop an occupational illness known as "Carbolic Marasmus".

My answer for today's question is Mr. Dr. Joseph Lister. I will use up my 7 pointer.

I still think I was right about yesterday's question. The little thin black ring goes outside the last, big, wide, white ring that arrows must hit for points to be awarded (and the archer gets those points for hitting the outside thin black ring, too. But I guess I didn't say it right, and you are in charge, Mr. Uly.
