My cat was a very good cat (for once)

Non-cat people, please disregard:

Evil-in-many-ways housemate finally moved out. Owing me break-the-bank sums I'll never see. One good trait of evil housemate, probably the only good trait, was playing with hyper-cat.

Hyper-cat misses that big time.

Hyper-cat attempted to play with me hyper-way last night. This involves biting & scratching. I sprayed hyper-cat with plant-sprayer (containing water for purpose of spraying hyper-cat) & closed door to room.

I had forgotten that because I have to occasionally lock hyper-cat in my room to keep him away from workpeople attempting to repair damage evil housemate did to apartment, I have litter box, food & water in my room.

Hyper-cat was being good-for-once; when I opened door to my room this morning, cat came in & made monumental pee in litter box to which he finally had access.

I believe I will therefore not be finding "present" elsewhere.

I have a hyper cat, Jasper.

When he gets wild and bites me when playing, I stop playing and walk away from him. It works and he calms down immediately.

I am glad that your cat went potty where it was supposed to.

When a cat plays rough with me, I tap it on the head, just like its mother would. Works every time.

Various cat-whisperer type of books advise that if you tap hyper-cats on their delicate, soft little noses, they will stop what they're doing; its what their mom would have done.

Doesn't work for this cat.

Neither does head-tap; I've tried that too.

Attempting to spit at him does at least temporarily work, but the plant-sprayer is way better at spitting than I am.

This cat has what they call "issues"; he was rescued from a basement along with Mom & 2 siblings. I met them all when I adopted him. He had severe anxiety about being in a carrier from the 1st; I had to take him out & cuddle him about 15 times on the trip from Pawtucket RI to Somerville MA, which otherwise takes about an hour. (My previous, much lamented late kitty, adopted from a farm where he'd lived with Mom & many siblings, just curled up & snoozed in the back seat for the whole trip.) (I couldn't let hyper-cat loose in car because I once had a "cat under the gas pedal/under the brake pedal" scare with a loose cat in car, & never want to repeat that experience; I, car & cat survived, fortunately). (These days I leave the carrier out so he can wander in & out of it, which he does, but he still doesn't like it when it gets put in car with him inside it for trip to vet.)

And you can't touch his feet with anything resembling clippers. Apparently, they did that at the shelter, & he didn't like it, to put it mildly, & never forgot it.
