Anyone watching this? Can anyone explain why UT didn't go for the two-point conversion when they scored to make it 28-26? How is 28-27 better than a chance at 28-28?

I think it's still a bit too early for a two point try. If they miss it, they are down by two and a TD by Oklahoma gives them a two score lead. My guess is that if OK scores again and TX answers any time in the fourth quarter, they will go for two.

I agree. I think that was too early for Texas to worry about going for two.

Any time before the 4th quarter I think you want to take scores when you can get them and not worry so much about the exact margin. As long as Texas stayed within the 7 or 8 point range they were OK.

Plus you never know if a couple of field goals will be kicked by one team or another. That changes the whole 1 or 2 point margin math.

Yeah, but they could have won by 11 instead of 10.

Phooey. But life goes on.

Congrats to the Longhorn fans.

Yay. Mack Brown wins a big game with no Vince Young. Good for him.

My son Jackson is playing tackle football this year. Today, he got his first win. It's the first sport that he has played that he really really likes. :D

Okay, so now it's Sunday and I'm watching the end of the Texan vs Dolphins on TV. Houston just scored a touchdown with 3 seconds to go, giving them a 3 point lead. An extra point would give them a 4 point lead, but they go for a two point conversion, and fail. What in the world would justify going for two in that situation? How would a 5 point lead with three seconds left be better than a 4 point lead?

The TD only put them up by 1 point. The 2 pt conversion would have given them a 3 point lead.

D'oh! My bad. I need either a new TV or new glasses.

Meanwhile, the Longhorns rocketed to #1 in both major polls this week. I predict even more drunks than usual on Sixth Street for the Missouri game this coming weekend.

Number one, baybeeeeee!!!! Woooohoooooo!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Too bad Mizzou flubbed up what could have been another titanic matchup of Top 5 teams. Should still be a great game, though.

I'm thrilled to see Texas at #1, but would feel better if it were January, not October. There's still a long way to go.

But that game yesterday was excellent, in any case.

I suppose it depends on one's own version of "excellent".
