Week 241
Name your one thing that you are going to work on this week to help out your health?
I'm going to stay the course on my run training, and get more sleep. I know that is two things, but I stayed up late last night and I know that's isn't smart.

Stay off the frickin' computer at night and get to bed earlier. Sleep is more productive than fruitlessly entering sweepstakes.
Keep from snacking every time I mosey through or near the kitchen.
Do situps in the evening as well as in the morning. A flatter stomach is a good thing, and the stronger abs help my back.

I made an appointment to have this sore throat looked at. I am not sleeping right because of it. Also I am going to spend more time in the steam room at the Y.

Drink more water. My lips stay chapped despite using extra, extra medicated Chapstick 100 times a day. I read somewhere that being dehydrated causes chapped lips!
I lost a couple of pounds last week. Need to work at keeping it off.

I'm fighting a crummy cold, but I finally found some Triaminic syrup, so the coughing and crud have eased up. I'm hopeful that I'll get over it in the next couple of days, because I'm headed west on Thursday to visit my mother for a long weekend, and I have much to do before then.

Keep going to exercise class. Went tonight. I'm also trying to avoid processed food. Avoid is probably not a good word. Reduce is better. Oh, and I'm trying to keep posting on this thread, which helps. Accountability.

Take care of yourself and I do hope you get much better before you leave.

Still working on the eating sitting at the table with all the right things.
I can not seem to do that all the time.
Maybe this week will be the breakthrough.

I was the guinea pig for Zen Massage, a chain of massage places with three locations in Charlotte. A co-worker checked out Massage Envy, which is also inexpensive but requires a membership. This place doesn't.
I was pleased to find no dropoff in atmosphere for the lower price ($40 for a standard Swedish, $49 for anything extra, compared to $65-75 for most private therapists, if not more). My guy beat me up pretty well, beyond what I think of as standard Swedish. He also made suggestions on alternating hot and cold water in the shower, to induce muscle contractions and keep my knots from forming.
He's been there a year and a half - I'd read some concerns that since they are paid about $15/hour, many of their staff is fresh out of school. That's possible, and maybe I lucked out. But I saw a lot of repeat customers.

Friend Gail and I teamed up to work out with a trainer twice a week. We are now in Week 10. Aisha beats us up pretty well - free weights, some machines, calesthentics, etc. I also go twice/week for additional elliptic or treadmill sessions. I've only dropped about 5 lbs, but my body is re-shaping. Clothes fit better, and I'm working on Linda Hamilton Arms.
