Friday's QOD-week 1

#1 Post by ulysses5019 » Fri Oct 10, 2008 5:33 am

There is no need to bid on today's QOD which has to deal with entertainment. There are five correct answers. I only need four. If you put down more than four, I will take the incorrect ones first. There will be a weekday QOD scoring update sometime this weekend. Here is the question:

Other than Donny and Marie (and older brothers George and Thomas, who are both deaf), name four of the five other singing Osmonds.

Yesterday's answer was the 38th Parallel.
I believe in the usefulness of useless information.

Isn't it funny how the brain works? I know I only need four, and those four just pop right out of my head. But I can't remember the fifth to save my life!

Great, I have no idea who any of the other Osmonds are.

Time to use the Sarah Palin random name generator....
Bobby, Eddie, Kate, Jack

I knew I forgot something.......each answer is worth two points. Again, there is no need to bid anything. Just write down four names.

Spoiler
I recall a younger brother who was often featured on the Donnie and Marie show, but I'm not certain of the name. I can't recall any of the older brothers' names.

Rather than have no guess at all, I will guess "Jimmy".

Having looked it up now to see who I missed (unlike some people who seem to know way too much about this subject...) I note that Virl was the middle name of George Virl Osmond, Jr. who presumably went by Virl to avoid confusion with his father.

Here's how I know the Osmonds' names:

It was originally a kind of "know your enemy" thing: The girl across the street from me in my early teen years was crazy nuts about The Osmonds. I, of course, would torture her by doing things like blast Black Sabbath out the window while throwing darts at a dartboard I had set up outside with a picture of Donny taped over it that I had found in a magazine. Later on in college my best friend's girlfriend, who had never completely gotten over her Osmond crush (although she had always been sweet on

rather than Donny), at one point dragged us all out to see them at an area amusement park where they were performing. I must admit, they do harmonize very well. I even resisted the urge to hurl darts at Donny. Seriously, when they weren't singing "one Bad Apple" type sap, they were a pretty talented bunch.

And in the interest of FULL disclosure, I DID like "Crazy Horses". Don't tell anybody.
