I don't know what was funnier: accidentally calling Joe Biden John McCain, or accidentally calling John McCain "the next Vice President of the United States".

The article said that Piccillo is a disillusioned Republican, not a former Republican. Spin it all you want, but he is still a Republican.

Using your logic, you're saying that comedian silverscreenselect is not a Democrat because he is supporting McCain... even though comedian himself constantly says that he is still a Democrat.

No, that is not using my logic. Obama is that far off. He is so far off the political map of what is Republican that anyone supporting him is not Republican. McCain on the other hand is somewhere between traditional Repbublican and traditional Democrat that one could support him over Obama and still be a member of the Democratic party.

I love watching Republicans spin and grasp for straws out of desperation. They look like blind men in a dark room searching for a black cat that isn't there.

But since you are the almighty political intellectual, maybe you could explain Susan Eisenhower, Jim Leach, Wayne Gilchrest, and Chuck Hagel's wife--none of whom are exactly fire-breathing libruls. And neither is UPI, which printed the article that I cited in my original post. UPI is owned by that huge right-winger, the fictitiously-crowned messiah Sun Myung Moon.

A number of Senators and Congressmen are elected or re-elected with 70-80 percent of the vote, even though other elections in the state are much closer. Red states elect Democratic Senators and Governors (some by wide margins) and vice versa. This means that a lot of people in one party conclude that despite whatever differences they may have with the candidate from the other party, he or she is doing a fairly good job (or in cases like Alan Keyes, the opponent is so spectacularly unqualified) so that they can vote for the candidate despite some degree of disagreement with their stand on political issues.

At other times, people begin in one party and gravitate to the other (or decide to become independents) over a period of time. Jim Webb is a former Republican. Phil Gramm was a former Democrat.

There are a lot of people in this election choosing one candidate despite their general overall political affiliation. That doesn't necessarily make them former Republicans or Democrats, just supporting a different candidate for President.

Could've been worse. He could've introduced him as Sarah Palin. I don't think my dear friend Sen. Biden would look as good in a skirt, an updo, and Tina Fey glasses.
