Huh. Answer two questions, go from 254th to 19th. I'm much faster at clicking here at work than I am at home (I think it has to with the background surface under the mouse - it's a lot harder at home to make it go where I want to).

Of course, I'm overdue to get a spate of questions wrong.

By the way, is there an easy way to get my monthly TQOTD score, without having to scroll through page after page?

I missed one I knew this morning. Chose an answer and hit submit and immediately realized I was wrong. Wasn't a clicking error. Just jumped for something that sounded plausible for the speed bonus, but then saw the right answer after it was too late/

Not that I know of - you can create a settings that displays your TQOTD rank on the bottom of your screen - if you then go to page 2 it will display 51-100 - based on your rank substitute the page number for page 2 at the end of the URL - when you tank like I did early last month it saves some time.

What makes today's list so amazing for this group is that the top 8 here are in the top 12 overall.

Well, I haven't dropped out of this list yet. I can't play for the next 4 days. I don't know what happens to your standing when you let questions build up like that. Guess I'll find out when I get back.

My miracle streak finally came to an end this morning. My question was along the lines of which of the five choices is not one of the four something-or-others. I only knew one for sure, there was one other familiar-looking answer that I assumed was one of the four, and the other three meant nothing to me. If I had taken my time, I would have realized that the familiar-looking one was most likely to be the odd man out, but instead I thought that I might as well make a wild guess quickly.

Computer says no.

I hate to jinx myself so I'll just say that I've been doing better lately. Up in the 20s is better than down in the 100s.

Three things I start thinking about as I work my up:

1. Any screw-up and I drop right off the map again.

and

2. Pretty much the only way to move up is for the people above me to miss.

and

3. There are probably question-hoarders out there just waiting to go zooming past me.

I always assumed the largest part of the reason I started low, climbed the standings in the early part of the month, and then stagnated or fell towards the end was people losing interest and not playing anymore. I figured once I got up into a certain stratus, I stopped competing against people who were going to drop out, thus the steady rise lasting only part of the month.

Well, I was in the top 100.......until I got timed out of my second question this month. Oh well. I'll just make the QOD q's harder for the rest of this month.

Looks like it is time to fold my tent this month.

After a busy weekend that saw me accumulate an unprecedented 5 questions, I proceed to go 2-5 yesterday. Thought I had a chance to make up a little ground today with a slam dunk, only to have the network at work slow me down to 7+ seconds. Only way to even make the first page this month is to go error free the rest of the way. Hard to say that only half way through.

My tent never got pitched in the first place.....

I got this morning's Q right through a fortunate guess. It was my 5th correct answer of the entire month...

I think I've only gotten one question all month that I actually knew the answer to for sure.....

I figured September was a fluke....

Only 62.5% knew the year that Alaska and Hawaii became states.

I don't think that those who answer several questions at once are necessarily hoarding them in order to zoom past somebody. I've discovered that I can answer something instantly on my laptop and it will still give me a time of 6-7 seconds. So I wait until I'm on the desktop to answer them. I'm not on the desktop every day and sometimes even when I am I don't think about Sploofus questions that need to be answered.
