RIP Jose Luis Garza

Who?? OK. I'd venture a guess that not many know who this guy was. But, we had been a faithful watcher of a Cable Show called "Big Medicine" where a father / son doctor team treated obese patients by providing them with either a stomach bypass or stapling to help them lose weight. There were also several specials regarding super-obese people and Mr. Garza was among the "obesest" of the obese, weighing in at nearly half a ton (which sounds more ominous than 990 pounds).
It just fascinates me how these people can just literally eat themselves to death. I think Mr. Garza was reported to have a daily calorie intake of 15 - 20,000 calories a day and he wasn't working it off like Michael Whatshisname. If you remember Jabba The Hutt of Star Wars fame, this fella was a living version of Jabba. It was simply amazing to see how big a person could really get. Needless to say, Garza was bedridden for many years.
