Did you attempt to change your avatar, because all I see is the gobbldy-gook Shrink Pictures website message? Or perhaps ES has hacked into your laptop?

Is that better?

I thought it was time to wear my birthday suit.

I bought a bumble bee costume for Zap today, but he is too big for it.

Heavy sigh.

So much to do, so little time.

See! We now have both Annie and Zap who are having clothing issues. I can attest to the troubles too as our Rott. Xena doesn't fit into any of the 'cute' things off the rack either.

Here is the easiest, goofiest costume I ever put on a dog. This is Irish, the whippet, dressed up as her big sister Tigger.

The costume, circa Halloween 1997, came from Target's 101 Dalmatians collection for toddlers, size 2T. I put the suit on her without modification, just leaving a couple of snaps undone to accomodate her tail. I took in the ear bonnet to make it smaller, and tied it under her chin. (The red thing on her head is a ribbon bow.)

AOL used this photo for a Halloween promotion the following year, and I had to answer Irish's fan mail from 9- to 12-year-olds for two solid weeks.

Oh my goodness! I love the outfit and I love the story behind it. Did Irish answer the emails or did she just tell you what to say?

I answered the e-mails. At the time, I didn't realize dogs could learn to type.

Oh you poor, poor doggies!

Isn't there a hotline you guys can call to report canine fashion abuse?

SC also has a Dalamation costume, I recall correctly. I think she won a look like your pet contest, or something like that......

I don't have "a costume." I have an Obermeyer ski jacket that is black, with white polka dots. It is true, however, that I was wearing it when Tigger and I won the look-alike contest.

I choose to believe that we were selected as the winning team because the judges noted that the dog and I shared an intelligent and caring look in our eyes.

:)
