That's the front page headline and
lead story of our local newspaper today, referring to tonight's debate, which will take place at one of the universities here.
And here I thought something exciting was coming to town!

Why did they pick Belmont and not Vandy (my alma mater)?

No the Curb Center was not there when I went to Vandy. Are you going and how has the gas situation been in Nashville?

Belmont University is thrilled to have been selected as the site for the 2008 Presidential Town Hall Debate. It is a privilege for us to host this historic event.
The debates are primarily intended for the television viewing audience. Tickets are not available to the general public.
The Belmont debate is the only official Town Hall Debate. Participants asking questions of the candidates will be chosen by the Gallup Organization from undecided voters in the Nashville, Tenn., standard metropolitan statistical area. Belmont will have no control of the selection of participants. (source)

Regular gas is available here at 369.9 per gallon. Premium grades are still lacking at several stations. Our shortage (involving lines) lasted about a week. Some areas east and south of us are still reporting shortages.

The Curb Center seats about 5000 and over 2500 seats are reserved for the media tonight. That must be why no one can get tickets. All the more reason Vandy should have been the choice. The Basketball arena can hold much more people.
