WWTBAM Bored

We were coming in the back door a week ago today. We had been to the hospital for an MRI on wife's bad knee. She has had three hip replacements (insert joke here), and one knee replaced. Oh, yeah, the back door: dear wife trips, falls, and breaks her left arm near the wrist. Back to hospital-ER this time. ER Dr. will not touch the break so we have to get in to see an Ortho Doctor. Luckily, we got in to see Dr. Schierrer at about 3:30pm. Break occurred about 10:30 am. Wife is out of action for about 8 weeks. She is a beautician. She has worked for months at a time on crutches or a walker, but, it really is a two-handed occupation as you well know.

She is the toughest human being I have ever encountered. We will survive this as we have all the other problems in 42 years of marriage.

I am a really good babysitter/aide.

I am so sorry! Your wife has my sympathy and my strongest fast-healing vibes. I hope she feels better quickly, but lets nature take the time necessary to made the bone strong.

Oh, BTW, she would like you to bring her a cup of tea now, thank you very much. (All of us thank you for being so supportive for her.)

I can't even imagine the hip and knee surgeries. But to have a broken wrist on top of it...I empathize, having broken mine last December. Not only does it put you out of commission for awhile, it hurts like hell. Therapy sucks, too.

Bless you for being a good babysitter/aide-type man. Does she have the temporary really heavy concrete-feeling cast? I almost beaned myself after surgery because I couldn't feel my arm and it just swung toward me.

Her first replacement is still in use! It was done at Mayo's in 1987. (Mayo Clinic still keeps in touch with her because this is a little unusual.) Her second replacement lasted 14 years and was replaced in 2003. This was also done at Rochester.

LOL. No, she has a fiberglass cast. Yesterday we went back to the Ortho. They split the cast to relieve some pressure and patched it with orange fiberglass (fer Halloween dontchaknow).

When I first started teaching, in 1974, one of my fellow teachers was Dorothy. At least twice a week she would say that her hair looked like a cat had been sucking on it. Kay and I have used this on each other many many times over the years--usually bedhead was involved. Now, since I comb my hair with a towel, it has fallen into disuse.

Snort. I rather like the expression. Mainly because I've had a cat suck on my hair and I can still feel it. It really is relaxing. Makes for distressing hairballs, though.
