Palin's Midwest Accent (Non-political)

Local talk radio was discussing her flat midwestern accent today.

The sheriff from Fargo was mentioned as an obvious comparison.

Question arose about the souce of the midwest accent and

Apparently in the 30's a large number of Minnesotans were relocated through some New Deal program to the Matanuska Valley in areas close to Wasilla.

I remember that Michener in Alaska had a chapter(or family) based on that transfer.
