Who is Cat Deeley?

#1 Post by MarleysGh0st » Fri Oct 03, 2008 11:32 am

And why are some UK web sites saying that she'll take over Meredith's job at SyndieBAM? :?

http://www.mirror.co.uk/celebs/latest/2 ... -20768008/
Cat Deeley is set to be offered a fortune to host the US version of Who Wants To Be A Millionaire?

Cat, 31, is now based in the States and filmed a stint as guest presenter.

And the ex-Stars In Their Eyes host wowed ABC producers so much they want to pay her more than £1million a year to do it full-time.

A show source said: “Cat is the ideal presenter. She’s smart, sassy and absolutely gorgeous.

“She is a real hit with US audiences and has proven her worth on other shows stateside.”

She is the host of "So you think you can dance." She is very good at hosting, but I don't see her as a millionaire host. She has a very thick British Accent and the audience always jokes and imitates the way she says the word judges. They should keep Meredith!

Isn't she also very tall? I know most dancers are lithe, but she towered over everyone on the show.

Not that I ever watched it, except when my wife was watching when I walked in the room.
Enough already. It's my fault! Get over it!

That'll be $10, please.

Wasn't she in the lyrics of a folk song? you know,

Hang down your head, Cat Deeley
Hang down your head and cry
Hang down your head, Cat Deeley
Poor boy...nah, that's not it.

Never mind.

Spoiler
I think I may know why. Cat was the guest host at the taping I went to and she was pretty damn good.

The times I have been in the room when my wife and daughter have been watching "SYTYCD," she has seemed to be a very comfortable, but not cloying, host. Hard to imagine her doing Meredith's job based on my limited knowledge of her, but nothing that says she's be an awful fit either.

Cat and Meredith have similar personalities, based on what I've seen of them. Both are extremely attractive, but capable of both self-deprecating humor and teasing others in a good-natured way. In addition, both of them can be relied upon to root for the contestants, no matter who the contestants may be. Both are highly intelligent, too. I've observed that in Meredith over her career, and I choose to believe that about Cat. . .because I like to think that anybody who hangs out with dancers is brilliant.

I'd rather have Meredith stick around forever, but when she feels the need to leave, Cat would be a good fit.

I watch "Dance" religiously (even went to the tour show last week), and Cat Deeley is a very nice host. As Silvercamero said, it would be great if Meredith stayed forever, but I could see Cat taking over hosting duties and having the same supportive way with contestants. She certainly is that way with the dancers.

The Mirror article doesn't exactly say that.

Here's a more positive spin for you. ABC is considering a revival of some form of primetime Millionaire.

Supporting this hypothesis:
1. Neither Meredith nor Regis could easily host a revival - commitments to NBC and CBS respectively.
2. Meredith is still under contract to host syndicated Millionaire until the end of season 9 (I think).
3. ABC's looking at how NBC is handling Deal or No Deal.
4. Game shows are relatively cheap to produce, and Millionaire is a well established brand.

I'm just thinking out loud here. Feel free to shoot this idea down. Another possibility is Cat Deeley's people are leaking this story to increase her value on the television presenter market.

As long as it's not that hyena chick that judges SYTYCD

As long as you're thinking out loud, can you think about a phone game?
