WWTBAM Bored

For those of you who don't remember my boys, here are Nick (Tiger Cub), Peter (Boy Scout, Tenderfoot rank), and Nathan (2nd Year Webelos).



We are having our annual fundraiser. You can order online, with s/h included, and the boys would still get credit. Here's how:

1. Go to http://www.orderpopcorn.com
2. Enter the key code:
Nick's code is: TEZGVWS
3. Click on the "Go" button

Once you are in, it should say "Welcome. You are supporting Nick R." From there, you can choose from the same selection of items that we sell locally. There are red tabs near the top that organize the products into categories. The only differences that I've noticed are that s/h is included in the price, and the (unpopped) popping corn can only be ordered by
the case.

One new item this year is trail mix. They also added cashews to the caramel corn that already had almonds and pecans, and they reformulated the caramel corn light to use an even lighter syrup than before. Also, none of the popcorn items have diacetyl in them, and everything except for the trail mix is marked as kosher (certified by the Orthodox Union) dairy.

If you don't want the popcorn, you can opt for the military donation, whereby the popcorn will be sent to our troops in Iraq. (I don't think any of it goes to our troops in Afghanistan, although I'm not 100% certain.)

I fully expect to be inundated with Scout popcorn solicitations shortly (my neighbor runs the local fundraiser), but I have to add that it is addictive and makes great Moose Munch if you drizzle melted chocolate on it (thanks, tgirl!) and if nobody sells you any, buy from astro.

And that little Nick is so edibly adorable, I can't stand it. He has that wide, Mini-me smile the girls adore, so watch out! How old is he now?

Nick is 7 now. He wanted to join Scouts for years, coming along to as many of the activities that involved Peter and Nathan that he was allowed to attend. He finally had his first den meeting last night. (Yes, I'm the den leader. I'm also the den leader for Nathan as well as the Cubmaster for the whole pack.)

Tigers (1st graders) wear orange neckerchiefs. Wolves (2nd graders) wear yellow. Bears (3rd graders) wear light blue. Webelos (4th and 5th graders) wear plaid. There are generic neckerchiefs for Boy Scouts (solid blue or solid red, for example), but most troops have their own specially-embroidered with the troop logo. Obviously, you can't see the design on Peter's because he's facing forward.

I presume that's what the telescope is pointing at, which explains why the other squirrel is chuckling!

I'd also like an explanation for the squirrel in the birdbath.

The squirrel in the birdbath appears in a number of ES's pictures, and is one of his favorite non-Bored subjects....

She made a number of appearances in the A-Z series....

And in a way, Astro's picture, and that scene in particular, is responsible for throwing the BB Art series way off track, almost fatally. This was the last picture I drew in the 5 month period where I was almost constantly cranking out new pics..... coinciding with ES's rise on the Bored, and my desire to do..... other pictures....

Good to see the uniforms. So much has changed! In my day Scouting didn't even start until third grade, Webelos were only one year in 5th grade and there were no Tiger Scouts.

Never was a big fan of not wearing uniform pants but I know that is common place now. Was uncommon and highly discouraged in my Troop some 35 years ago. Gotta love peer pressure...

But I suppose it is cheaper as kids grow out of clothes so quickly.

Somewhere I still have my extensive collection of neckerchiefs, slides and patches. I even have the uniform somewhere I think. Used to still fit, sort of, well into my late 20's/early 30's.

Now, not so much...

Cute picture, but they need Gunnery Sergeant Hartman to give them some help with their salutes!
