The Mythbusters dudes put this to the test a few years ago and declared it "busted". If anything, they found it "perked up" the sperm and made it more active.

The only way Diet Coke or any other soda is effective as a contraceptive is when the can is placed between the knees.

I think of either party, but more research is called for.
