WWTBAM Bored

All the Canadian politicos had their big English debate tonight.


They were too predictable and polite and boring.



I watched yours


It was fun.


She speaks a little off, but overall was much better than predicted. I do think that her lack of experience anywhere but Alaska showed, as that was her only point of reference, but she was personable, polite and (to quote SNL) played her "adorableness" factor well.

Biden was the consumate politico, polished, assured and a touch pompous (Let me say it again). He did better at supporting Obama, than Palin did McCain, but didn't really shine.


He appears to have some out ahead, but she held up well. Probably won't change many, but at least she didn't loose any support either.

Well, I must say I am surprised at you, Beebs, as I read my post, I thought they both did well, and thought I said so. I didn't comment on our leaders vs your leaders except to say ours were boring.

Maybe it was the SNL reference. It's light and unimportant and a throwaway comment, meant to deride the person described. But, granted, you did say Biden was pompous, etc. I guess the whole "adorableness" thing threw me off. I can't think the last time I ascribed "adorableness" to any other country's potential vice-leader. Nor, would I. I think that's, (a shoutout to Mr. K) a sort of passive-aggressive slam on her.

I've tried my damndest to stay out of your election, but rudeness as to our importance on the world stage gets my temper ready to blow!

We are your largest importer and best ally and I really resent that remark that we don't matter on the world stage. We are the ABSOLUTE BEST country in the world to live in. No one in our country goes bankrupt because of medical problems. I've had 2 total knee replacements and have no idea what they cost. Never saw a bill.

Our economy is not tanking even though you're trying to drag us down. We have regulations on banks and investments so it won't happen here.

Guess I deserve a rant on my birthday. I'm reaching the cantankerous years and may just enjoy them!

When I was living in Buffalo, NY - people would ask why and I would say its the closest city in the US to Toronto - and Toronto is great.

I always enjoyed Canada, but I do have to say that I've noticed that there is this weird mental state that a number of my friends in the great white north suffer from about trying to get us 'mericans to realize that they are not a 51st state but a legit country and a damn important one to the to boot (BTW the word About is not pronounced A Boot . I think what they fail to realize is that too many of us in the U S of A don't ever think about Canada at all - it's not just you, its all other countries (and probably a good % of US states as well) and it just isn't on our radar. So stop worrying about the fact that most Americans are oblivious to you and just take satisfaction that you got a great place to live. Not that the US isn't also great place to live as well - its just a different great place and no matter how cool and important you are, your neighbors to the south (and northwest) will just not notice nor care.

How to you get 37 Canadians out of a swimming pool?

Ask them.

I have no idea how many steps are in the CN Tower. All I know is I got about halfway up and my knees (the original ones) froze. I literally had to crawl the rest of the way. Great view though once you get up there.

BTW Jay - sorry about the poutine question. You did a great job.

Ellen, my comment was out of line and off topic. However, I've heard enough nastiness from folks outside the border that I usually don't respond to or about and I lost it. Sorry.
And, sorry to Saucy as well. Yes, yesterday was pretty much a horrible day, but that's no excuse.
