That's how much the stock market drop yesterday cost investors.

Oh, it was just a Buying Opportunity. My neighbor scooped up Lehman Bros for 39 cents a share. I hope he didn't overpay.

Heck--a thousand shares for $400 seems like a good gamble to me, just in case...

Not "we" but all investors could have.

Tomorrow is the first of the month and that's when money gets invested in Jeff's 403B. I wonder though, all over the country, many people get paid on the 1st and buy their 403B or 401K shares, will that help stabilize things?

We've got to finish funding the 401k by the 15th, so I'm hoping it doesn't bounce back TOO soon--I have to see what's left after all the mortgages and bills and credit cards get paid before putting aside the rest.

I got paid today. I don't know if the actually buy the 401(K) shares today or not.

The market is up over 200 points right now.

With the market dropping 8% in one day, the new investments from regular paycheck 401K purchases is a drop in the bucket.

Besides which, it's not clear that payroll deductions on the 1st are immediately invested in new shares on the same day. My 401K statements never itemize purchases; I just get a net investment for the quarter summary. <grumble>®
