Another long day Sunday

But a good one this time...

Yesterday was second-born son's 18th. In keeping with our family tradition, he got to choose where he wanted to go for his birthday meal. Being a diehard Brewer fan, he picked Buffalo Wild Wings...good call. He wasn't paying too much attention to the Packer game (smart kid), focusing on the Brewers and the Mets instead. Oh - the chow was pretty good, too.

While we were watching the games, my daughter gravitated to the NTN screens. Needless to say, I asked if she wanted to play and she said "yes"...we now have another Buzztime fanatic in our house...

Birthday boy also wanted to visit all of the grandparents yesterday as well. Not only was that a nice touch...I was glad to see my Dad looking a lot better. He had lost a lot of weight recently and had been having some breathing difficulties, and I was quite worried as he has had oral cancer in the past as well as a "spot" on his lung that had to be removed. Both episodes were a few years back...but I was fearing the worst in the back of my mind. Anyhow, he looked a lot better yesterday - he has regained some weight and said that although he was still having some breathing issues, that was improving as well.

So...Dad looking better, a kid who celebrates a milestone birthday with family (beats the poo out of what a lot of people do at that age), a daughter who apparently has inherited the trivia gene, and the Brewer thing...yes...Sunday was a keeper.

Sept. 28th a good day for a birthday. My son Jesse's 13th birthday was yesterday as well as my brother's birthday (a bit older then 13, though).

Happy belated BD to Jesse and to your brother! I will retroactively redirect two of my numerous Brewer toasts over to the frogman clan...

Interesting coincidence, AD. My 18th birthday was also on the final day of a regular season that marked the first post-season appearance of my favorite team in exactly 26 years!

To celebrate I went to the Phillies game that day with my dad, watching as Steve Carlton won his 20th. (One huge difference -- we'd already clinched the playoffs several days earlier, so we weren't biting our nails the way you must have been yesterday...)

The place was pretty tense, that's for sure. We tried to arrange our chairs around the table to allow us to watch as much as possible while minimizing neck injury from our heads moving back and forth. My wife wanted to head out as soon as the Brewer game was done, but Tim (and, not coincidentally, his dad  ) insisted on hanging around until Marlins v. Mets had been decided.

Very interesting coincidence, though...I will be sure to relay this one to him!

The only only good thing about yesterday's baseball happenings, is that AD gets to root for his beloved Brew Crew. For that, I can sleep.

Otherwise, yesterday was a very traumatic day.
