All in all, probably one of the better starts that I recall seeing in a long time.

I thing that the red team will continue to implode, even if they win a challenge next week.

The challenges are extreme already, and looks to be a lot of injuries on the way.

I was glad to see Michelle and Gillian both go, as one was so negative about her team, and the other was too gungho.

I didn't even realize the show was back on.

It takes me a while to get into it - usually once they get down to about 10 to 12 left. Prior to that, I really can't tell the crop of 3 to 4 buff guys and 3 to 4 chesty girls apart from each other.

It does look like Charlie is in love already.

Not sure as yet if this will be one of the 'better' seasons. Survivor is a natural for water sport challenges - the last time they were in Africa the lack of watersports took something away from the show IMHO.

There also seems to be a LOT of early-on misleading game play going on. Either that or our Olympic class runner is really out of shape.

Hopefully before the Fang tribe completely implodes they will do some form of fancy switcheroo to remix and rebalance the tribes.

I saw quite enough of one particular Survivor to last me for a while...

I just would not want to ever do this in Africa. There have been some less than nice places, but the whole being part of the food chain and not at the top thing would just rattle me too much.

That and the leeches/hippos in the swamp where they do all their water stuff.

This one is being pretty brutal from the get-go.

I'm not a fan of Ace. Smarmy Brit/new age guy should go if that tribe ever loses. But so far, fire, extra chow, lots o' fishing gear.

Compared to the loser so far tribe of fire because you lost a member and had your torches and a improvised fish hook (very innovative, but how long can it hold out?).

I'm all for the 'chesty' girls. Although it's kinda funny/sad to see them after about 25 days on starvation rations - skin and bones every where else, but this ginormous rack still standing tall.

I'm sure those're natural....

It was certainly one of the wackiest school yard picks to start the show that I can recall. The loser tribe seems to have gotten everything they deserved as a result.

I suspect the former olympic athlete is more out of shape than she would be willing to admit. It has been 4 years after all. She certainly looked it anyway in her performance unless she was really faking it! Perhaps as a sprinter distance and hills aren't her thing. Which could be as she still looks fairly muscular and is still a track coach so you would think she still works out at least some.

That last challenge was a real backbreaker for the losers at Fang. it is one thing to get whipped in a challenge but quite another to come out and battle hard only to loose a close one.

Not that it was all that close. Although it was closer than the previous ones had been.

I too think a forced remix is going to be necessary as that tribe looks beaten already.

I agree about Ace, I suspect he would quickly get on my nerves. Not that I would likely last long to begin with...

I also would guess that the crew is out there keeping the more dangerous animals at bay but the potential lack of frequent water challenges could be an issue this season as it has been in the past. And swimming with the hippos and crocs is a severe challenge indeed!

But from what I have read they are pretty close to the coast. Or at least the park they are in has an extensive coast line. Maybe they will be going to the beach in future episodes.

If this estimated map of the site is at all accurate is at all correct they are close to the coast. But they are a looong way from tribal council! I would think they would have to be driven or flown back and forth to get to it.


Speculated camp locations and educated guess as to where the camps and filming will occur on the equator. Note the possible challenges site marked on the bottom of the map along the coast.

I am really excited about this season.

I now have that dvr thingie, so I do not have to wait weeks and weeks for Survivor to show up on a tape. I know exactly where to find it and generally will be able to watch it the next morning.

How did the selection work? I forgot it was on until 20 minutes after it started so I missed the beginning.

The two old people were assigned to be the 'leader' for the tribes. They picked someone and then that someone picked the next person. The Fang tribe had the dumbest of dumb reasons (Us Mom's need to stick together?!?)

And in a difference from past seasons of the schoolyard type pick, they did not alternate male and female but could pick anybody.
