Mexico in November?

Just wondering if anyone has any insights regarding weather, how much activity there is, etc. in Mexico in November? Specifically, Cancun over the week of Thanksgiving?

Sunflower is burnt out and needs a break...a big one! And seeing as I already have a couple days off that week, it seems like the perfect time to get away. Flights are expensive but gosh darn it, I'm worth it!!

That's still hurricane season. You might want to check the west coast of Mexico.

Cancun should be nice and warm over Thanksgiving.

Should be. I was there over Christmas a few years ago and the weather was quite pleasant. Have fun!!

Was it "lay out in the sun" pleasant, or "don't have to wear a jacket but no way I'm out on the beach" pleasant?

That does make a difference for me...if I go I'd like to park it in the sand with a book for the week, going inside only for my spa appointments!

How was it at Christmas with respect to stuff being open? I know Thanksgiving is not a Mexican holiday but I'm worried about it being a ghost town and restaurants and shops being closed?

You can definitely come home with a nice tan. 8) I didn't notice anything being closed, although we were on a cruise and spent Christmas day at sea.

I think you'll be just fine. You can always check it out on the internet. It's a resort area, so I don't think it's an issue. JMHO.

I've spent the past two Thanksgivings (actually the week before and up to Thanksgiving) in Puerto Vallarta. The weather was fantastic.

Don't know about the Carribean side.

Evenings can sometimes be cool and breezy (60's and maybe even high 50's but that would be rare in November) but day time temps are typically at least high 70's and 80's. Generally it is a sunny time of year so it feels even warmer. While officially still the tail end of hurricane season they are certainly uncommon at that time, especially the end of the month and I certainly wouldn't let that deter me.

In fact I haven't. Have been to the Yucatán on more than one occasion during the heart of the hurricane season. One need only pay a little attention to the weather before departing to see if there is even a remote threat. If not then go and enjoy!

Things should still be pretty new looking after Hurricane Wilma gave the place a good cleaning back in October of 2005.

Oaxaca in November is nice. Sometimes they even clean the medical waste off the beach for the sunbathers....

My husband will be there for a conference the weekend before then! Unless they move it to Atlanta or something--the companies are cheaping out these days.

I have no real desire to go, but I can tell you how it was on short notice!

I was making the post as CD when it shut off.

It gave me an excuse to get ready for work. It was back on within 2 minutes of me sitting back down....

Merriment doesn't pay the bills..... though if you'd be willing to send me an allowance every week, I'd be here for your entertainment 24/7..... :P

I owe my son for the whole summer. It's been a rough year! (We're paying estimated taxes on last year's earnings...)
