Patrick Pugh enters the Hot Seat today. If he can find it!
Finally, it was his turn to take the "hot seat," the chair in which contestants on the ABC game show "Who Wants To Be a Millionaire" sit. And Patrick Pugh, in his nervousness, walked right by it. "Where are you going?" show host Meredith Vieira called him back. "I have no idea," Pugh answered. But his adventure with the hot seat wasn't over yet. "When I first sat down, I almost fell out of the chair," Pugh says. "You talk about nervous."

One of the better contestant articles, IMO. But the story about his entry alone makes me want to root for him!

He "non-passed" twice before he finally got it right.

Root away - he was a great guy.

Instead of the new practice of walking on from the bleachers, he came in from backstage - alone. He was probably blinded by the lights.

And the chair is pretty unsteady, I had a lot of anxiety that I would fall out of it!

This article has pictures of Patrick, which I think would have had to have come from Millionaire - but if you click on it to see the enlarged version it has major spoilers because you have a near perfect view of Meredith's game screen.

One of my press photos showed the screen at $1,000 and another showed the screen at $25,000. I had to black them out myself in order to use them for anything, out of fear! But they have no problem sending them like that to the press, it's odd to me.

Also, if you look at the second picture (the one with just the logo on Meredith's screen) and look at the audience member on the far left in the first row - I'm pretty sure it looks like she is taking a photo - which I know is forbidden. (I was looking at the audience to see if I could spot any family or guest members)

TPTB don't play by the same rules they hold contestants to. If a contestant does exceptionally well, we
will hear spoilers about it from their official promos!

Is it forbidden? Because I thought when we went the first time (when I auditioned) that we were allowed to take pictures - just not with a cell phone because those had to be off. They even let us hop in the hot seat and take pictures after the taping was over, so I know they allowed that!

I guess they figure that 99% of the population wouldn't think of looking at it and then being able to figure out exactly what it meant.
In Patricks case it gives away the whole situation - if you have watched the show and can remember how they display things - then you will know exactly how he did.
Of course they could do what they did with George's question and place on another contestants picture - so that the picture that shows the content of Meredith's screen may not be Patrick's.

Yep, that's blatant! (Unless TPTB photoshopped that audience background in.
You can also tell that one photo must have been after he carried over to a second episode--he's changed his shirt and ditched his tie, and there are different people behind him in the audience.
Isn't deciphering official spoilers fun?

Yes, cell phones had to stay off - but we were also told that no photo's were allowed as well - at least that's what I thought we were told.

You might be able to take a picture of the set before they start, but it's forbidden during filming.
And somebody let you try out the Hot Seat while you were just an audience member/auditioners? I've been to a lot of tapings and have never seen that!

Well that was also before they scared the crap out of me so maybe I was being a rebel!!! I don't know though, I'm usually good about following rules like that. We have a ton of pictures of the studio, and Rob was also taking pictures of me in the hot seat while I was taping my promo. You'd think someone would have stopped one of us at some point!!!

If I knew where to look I'd find the photos I took at the first jipterfest. There is at least one group photo in and around the chair after a taping.

That was back before Jipters/BBs became personae non grata.
