Jeff's thinks that the things on the list will happen 24 times between the time that she arrives tomorrow and when she leaves next week.

Yeah, she's being quite the slacker. She could contribute some gratuitousness instead of making us do all the heavy gratuiting.
She came around.

The promotion discussion was big around here a couple of weeks ago. Sam wanted to know what she would call herself this summer: Is she 6th grader or a 7th grader? Technically she won't start 7th grade until August. After listening to quite a few viewpoints from us and her friends, she finally decided she is a 7th grader because she has officially finished the 6th grade.

OH, and PSM, your mom has to be related to my MIL.

I have always really liked my MIL. I still like her. Now that we live near Eric's side of the family, I am just shocked to see a side of her that others have talked about in the past, but I have not seen. Combining that revelation, with a few other revelations about various family members, made for quite the tumultuous first year in Idaho. Unfortunately, it came down to having to make a rough decision, which was to limit our time spent with the ones causing the trouble. I must say though, our lives have since gone back to being a lot less stressful since making the decision. Eric, Sam and I have grown closer while experiencing these events, and we've also grown closer with the non-mean family members too.

I remain stunned that my own mother obviously has been leading secret lives with extra families in California and Idaho.

I got the cackling m-i-l! But she wouldn't ever in 16,000 lifetimes wake up at 4 am. Idealized parenting? Check.

I suggest you just turn it into a drinking game! Anytime one of those event occurs, you drink. Only the girls get left out and you get on the waiting list for new livers next week....

If I drink though, I might be more inclined to say what I really think. That would mean more crying.

When she stays with us, she wakes us all up at 4:00 a.m. because rather than using the shower downstairs next to the guest room, she takes one in the girls' bathroom
I suggest that the girls' shower be 'broken' for the duration of her stay. Or do what I did to one of my boys one April first. Remove the shower head and make sure it's dry. Pour in a packet of luridly colored KoolAde. Reattach the shower head. Blame the girls when you mom turns purple.

Too much work. Just have Emma poop in the shower stall before she goes to bed. Mom might try to use that one the first morning, but she can probably be convinced to use the guest shower after that. Ha!

Btw, the cemetery trip is announced because everybody has to know where she's going so they can all talk about how thoughtful she is and how she feels so much and how selfless and wonderful she is to do that. Because if nobody knows you're doing it, it doesn't count.

And isn't that the whole point of.....well, everything?

(Yes, I have a mother. Could you tell? Ha!)

Well, you never know. She might be hiding in the girls' shower.
