Now just hold on thar a minute, Baba Looie......

Codpiece ES will win!!!!!!!

(Has the first avatar of the year even placed during the short history of the countdown? It's like the Oscars, they wait until the last minute to release the awards stuff so people will remember it.)

Depends on how you look at it.....

Snowmobile ES & MBRS was technically the first ES avatar of the modern ES avatar era, and it placed in last year's countdown.... though it didn't debut until the end of March....

Beebs painting was the second avatar this year, and it got an honorable.....

But Codpiece Fanny just may make it a foregone conclusion for next year's countdown....

It is no secret that ES will often draw special avatars for the birthdays of those in his harem. Keeping ES entertained (and well-scritched) in chat has its privileges. But occasionally, ES gets in the mood to do special avatars for others, and for Elwood's birthday this year, ES drew up this little tribute to the Blues Brothers featuring MBRS and Angel as Jake and The Real Elwood. MBRS's ability to take on just about any cool personality combined with Angel's always seeming out of place as anything but herself has worked so great in almost every instance I've used it..... including this infamous LS promo back in June (coincidentally, also done for Elwood). They were merely on a mission from God to wish a fellow BB a happy birthday, and landed a spot among the elite in this year's loaded countdown....

Whatever, you're just jealous because you don't have a red pleather codpiece and a bucket hat to match.

And, even if you did, you could not hope to rock same half as well as Larry did (and still does!)......

Sigh....... I miss not being able to do avatars during the countdown.......

lb13
Who says you have to. Your buddy Weird AL hasn't written a song for a while. Maybe he could be your avatar holder till he gets rid of his writers block.

Perhaps ES's movie will win #1 even though it wasn't an avatar.....

While your persistence and determination is laudable, Sprots, not even I think that Crawlspace Fanny will actually win (but it better damned well be in the Top Five!!).

Meanwhile I thought I had the Blues Brothers in my 20 list, but I don't see it on my paper so it must have been one of my last cuts. Of course some of them I already can't even figure out what I wrote (was there something called rat's toy? or maybe ralphy? ha!).......

#14: "In The Dark"

Debuted: 9/19/10

Image

For a couple weeks in September last year, I had to suffer through a rash of power outages that would occur almost daily. While most were brief (seconds long, even), a few had me in the dark for hours. When the lights came back on after one particular outage, I was getting pretty pissed and created this avatar of ES holding up a candle in the dark, with MBRS (Yes, it's MBRS, note the green eyes) standing behind him. This avatar makes the countdown solely based on artistic achievement, as I am still extremely pleased at how well I got the shading and shadows to work in this one.... though not enough so to have wished I never had all the blackouts that inspired it.....

#13: "Itchy Business"

Debuted: 6/17/10

June brought a plague of fleas upon Casa Beast, no doubt due to the two kitties who seem to have found a home here. After trying just about everything I could to get rid of them, I posted my frustration and was given plenty of advice from the good people here. One such piece of advice was offered by silvercamaro, who suggested before going through all the trouble to bomb the place that I check to see where the problem areas are in the carpet. To do this, she suggested wearing a pair of white socks and stomping along the carpet slowly to see if any flea surface on the socks. In chat that evening, Fanny said Sliver's advice gave her images of the famous dancing scene in "Risky Business". Normally, when avatars are inspired by chat, I wait until the next day to draw them, but this one couldn't wait. Since I was already at the desktop, which doubles as ES's studio, I whipped this avatar of ES doing the Tom Cruise thing in about 15 minutes. No doubt Sprots is a fan of the tighty whiteys......

So that solves the question of whether es wears boxers or briefs. And since it's Celebrate Old Avatar Month, here's my blast from the past.

And I forgot to mention Fanny did more than provide half of the inspiration for this avatar, she was the one who got me to put the fleas in it. The first version I drew was flealess.....

Sprots is not a fan of tighty whiteys. Especially when they're on mangy, flea-bitten rodents.

#12: "Rocket Squirrel"

Debuted: 7/4/10

This was my Fourth of July avatar, showing Sprots giving ES a little lift to the moon. When going through my list of avatars that survived the first cut, I paired this one up with The Oily Squirrel, since they are very alike in appearance... and chose this one just barely because I like some of the neat effects in it.... particularly the shading of the rocket. This was the first avatar to feature Sprots' new look she got once I ditched the Broncos jersey for consistency with my other characters. I think she looks smashing in Broncos orange hair....
