People from Missouri could travel to Philly even back in 1899. It's not like they had the LBN to break down on them every few miles... :P

Not to bring this thread back on topic or anything, but my $1,000,000 question was already asked (I think for only $250,000...). A variant would be

In the movie "The Godfather," Kay asks Michael if he would love her if she were which actress?
A. Katharine Hepburn
B. Ingrid Bergman
C. Rita Hayworth
D. Lana Turner
Spoiler
It happens just as they're coming out of the movies (when Kay sees the newspaper repot that Michael's father has been shot), where they've just seen "The Bells of St. Mary's", so the correct answer is B. Ingrid Bergman.

Okay, another "you know it or you don't" one:

Missouri got the nickname The Show Me State after an 1899 speech by whom?

A. Willard Vandiver
B. Lon Vest Stephens
C. Samuel Clemens
D. William Torrey Harris
Answer
Should I put the answer here, or let the Googlers do the very easy looking? :P I made sure to put in people associated with MO in 1899. I saw the speech once when I was thumbing through a Bartlett's and had the "aha!" moment...
E. A person who was never been in my kitchen. :P

COMPLAINT FOR DAMAGES:

Plaintiff, Bob78164, as and for his Complaint against Defendant, littlebeast13, alleges as follows:

1. Bob78164 is not, and never has been, voluntarily associated with the largest city in Pennsylvania.

2. littlebeast13 negligently, recklessly, and maliciously published statements claiming that Bob78164 is associated with that city.

3. These statements are false, and littlebeast 13 knew or should have known them to be false.

4. These statements have the natural and inevitable tendency to harm Bob78164, causing him damages.

Wherefore Bob78164 prays for judgment against littlebeast13 in the amount of one squintillion dollars.

Yes. That section of the Complaint (at least in California) is typically captioned the "PRAYER FOR JUDGMENT." --Bob

Why, because the argument is on a wing and a prayer? :P

And counsel, my questions are: What damages are caused to the plaintiff by the plaintiff by these statements and how do you know these statements are what caused the damages? And what needs to be made whole for the plaintiff from these statements? :P

(Forgive me for my lousy judge speak.) :)

The damage to reputation caused by any false association with THAT CITY speaks for itself. The damage to my reputation can be assuaged, though, by the payment of one squintillion dollars. Plus prejudgment interest, of course. --Bob

I'll let it go to trial. But I'm going to let a jury decide your damages. :D

Your case is prolly about "East Contra Costa Co.", which is a county, not a company...

The best I can come up with is East Contra Costa County Fire Protection District.

Yeah, it is. There are a ton of hits for "East Contra Costa," and this one shows it delineated as if it were a separate county. I didn't look through enough links...
