I prefer texts when I'm someplace loud like a theme park--it's hard to hear what someone is saying when there are crowds and music blaring. I'm guessing they were just talking about you behind your back...

It was annoying because every time #1's phone got a text, the whole damn table would vibrate. I told her to tell her boyfriend to stop texting her, only to have #2 start laughing from down on the other end...
I think the texts were more directed to be behind my Mom's back.....

Probably. If they were talking about you, they could have all just gone into the ladies' room as a pack like girls always do when they want to talk about the guys...

I'm too cheap to pay for anything but the boring checks that come free with our account. But it would be great to have Steve pay Mini-me's baseball fee with an HK check! I do most of the check-writing, but he'll stroke one for the baseball league and the church (I'm a heathen who likes to sleep in...)

He would never pay cash for anything, always wrote a check. Reason being, most people would keep it as a souvenir and never cash it. So he'd get whatever for free.
I thought for a second my nephew was going to scoff at presenting an HK check to the teller at the bank. Unfortunately I couldn't pull a Cary Grant, my sister is the manager of the main branch so he could have just given it to her to cash for him.

And that is why they have Disney Dollars! I got paid 40 of them once to watch a video at WDW, and I spent those suckers like they were expiring soon. No way I was taking home a 10 buck piece of paper as a souvenir.FannytheBull wrote:Ha! I owed Stephen 5 dollars and he wanted a poker chip from the Rio instead. Now he has to wait 4 more years if he actually wants the cash, or he has to give it back to me...

Re: Beast's Log
I justify the 20 bucks because I usually only write one check a month (stupid utilities charge for paying with a credit card), so a box of checks lasts me about six years.Vague Mini wrote:I'm too cheap to pay for anything but the boring checks that come free with our account. I didn't fall for paying top dollar for the stupid matching checkbook cover, though.....

Re: Beast's Log
I pay most stuff online, but I still have about 5 things I pay by check every month. This time of year the book drains quickly because of the 1700 things you have to send to school, like PTA dues and gym uniforms. Erin's school has already sent the order form for the yearbook instead of waiting until May as usual! I think I'll bitch about buying her one last year and they left out her picture. They gave us a current events section. Big whoop. I pay 17 bucks and get a picture of Lady GaGa, but not my own kid?!?! Pass. I hope they have a new person doing it this year. They left out a bunch of kids last year.FannytheBull wrote:I justify the 20 bucks because I usually only write one check a month (stupid utilities charge for paying with a credit card), so a box of checks lasts me about six years.Vague Mini wrote:I'm too cheap to pay for anything but the boring checks that come free with our account. Oh, yeah. Yearbooks are a money-maker. They've gone from 13 bucks and paperback when Stephen was in elementary school to hardback and they're asking for 20 this year!!! No kids get to work on it, either. They gave me the name of the woman in charge and I had never heard of her, which is highly unusual after having 11 years' of kids enrolled there. At the private school I at least get the yearbook with the tuition money. I won't call it free, but it's included as is lunch, so I'm sure my two chowhounds get my money's worth somehow...
