Yeah, why bother naming a pet who won't come when you call it anyway?littlebeast13 wrote:My Mom just called and I told her about Fanny's naming suggestions.... well, half of it anyway. She loved Shakira and was hoping the other name wasn't Kanye....
I may wait a few days and see if anything comes to me. Given my tendencies though, I might just call them both Kitty.....

They slept in their Kitty Cube in the living room. They still seem to have issues with coming out and exploring the expanse of their new world, especially when I'm not around.
Feisty did manage to work his way into the computer room after I got up, but all Odyssey would do was peek around the corner where the living room leads into the back hallway. Then when my Mom suddenly called, he darted back to his safety area.....
Mom suggested Rocky & Bullwinkle as names. I was trying to think if there was another famous squirrel other than Rocky, but came up blank. It really doesn't matter because I doubt I'll end up calling them by any given name anyway....
Oh, and she did say she'd be out later on today to take pictures. I know you're all just dying to see them.........

Rocky! All of TAH's cats were named Rocky - he had Rocky I, II and III! I only knew Rocky III. None
of the kittens we got as a family were named Rocky - the tradition stopped when he met me. Of course,
I'm not really a cat person anyway. I just encourage others.

jacorbett70 says:
A few weeks after my best cat in the world was in my apt, it was obvious, by the usual observation method, that a new name was needed. Therese was renamed Cat Tracy. Which left me with a bunch of people over the years pointing out that "Tracy is not a boy's name". I would tell them "Spencer Tracy" & they'd still say "Tracy is not a boy's name". Tracy's too-short life did overlap with Ice-T, aka Tracy Morrow's joining the cast of Lawn Order SVU, so I could then point out "another Black cat named Tracy" (duck & cover).
I had been warned against boy kitties (mainly that if you don't fix them really early they will spray their stuff on all your stuff) so picked out a little entirely black "the one who liked me best" girl out of a large litter my friend's farmer-cousin's cat had at about 4 weeks old, & named her Therese. With the accent mark I am not gonna go look up how to make on this computer (so there accent mark geeks). I went back to adopt her officially, after she had her 1st round of shots & was weaned, & as far as the farm vet had told everybody, she was still Therese.my sister picked up "Samantha" and found she had a "Sam" and not a "Samantha" in her hands.

I am a cat person, despite the avatar. I have had a cat that came to the sound of a can opener. Another came to a whistle (very doglike; would even follow my parents around the block on their walks). The current two respond to the sound of their bowls being rattled, the spoons clinking in the drawer, and even a pop-top sound, all of which have to do with their getting moist canned food. But come when you call their names? Fuggedaboudit!

Food prep sounds always gets a lot of interest here too.
Once I was visiting friends overnight with my Otto. I was sleeping on their fold-out couch and didn't realize I had folded it back up with Otto still in it. It was time to leave and I couldn't find Otto, so I called his name. He answered me every time I said his name, so I was able to track his meows to inside the couch. I never would have thought to look there!
