I know you guys have the attention span of a swarm of gnats but I will give you a challenge. Come back to this story in about 6 months and a year and so forth and see if the initial narrative has held up.

An example of an initial narrative that was (is still?) treated as gospel here and hasn't held up over time is the Russian bounty on troops narrative.

You guys are simply the best there is at jumping on initial narratives and treating them as gospel and then forgetting to check those narratives over time and quickly moving on to the next narrative.

You must not be familiar with how the book publishing industry works nowadays. Authors provide excerpts from their upcoming works all the time. And they get other friends in the industry to publicize the newsworthy value of the content. It's not limited to Maggie Haberman or reporters on the left. You may or may not approve of the process. But it doesn't make what she revealed any more or less accurate.

The words you take exception to are not Spock's. He marked it, pretty obviously, as a quote from the article. Reading this, it strikes me
1. as having the tone that you are talking down to him. As if he doesn't know what he's talking about, and you, of course, do.
2. You didn't bother reading the article, or you would have recognized it as a quote.

If you want to talk down to someone, take it up with the author of the article. And do yourself a favor and actually read what you are criticizing.
