I had actually thought of this one, but was looking for General Public, though I was sure Esto would have picked one of their songs out of a lineup...

PRINCE ALI

I would assume the artist on this would be Will Smith because he sings it in the live version

Yes, I saw it, I have a niece and nephew....
He used to be known in these parts as the Fresh Prince (rotten, spoiled) but apparently he stopped using that name decades ago.

Updated consolidation…

Identify the 100 songs below. Then, match them into 40 trios according to a Tangredi, or principle you must discover for yourself.

• One song will be used three times, each time in a different capacity.

• Thirteen songs will be used twice, each time in a different capacity.

Let’s kick things off with a song that I have been unjustly accused of including in every lyrics game….

I'm so dumb, I was trying to think of another song with snake in the title (and could only come up with Union of the Snake off the top of my head, I'm sure dozens of others will now start popping into my head) and completely forgot that snake is NOT in the title. This has been discussed at least a couple of times in LS. I'm getting too old for this shit....

In the same vein, please ignore all of my silly ramblings because I finally decided to RTFM and realized the opposites were only in the artist portion.

In the same vein, instead of using Fresh Prince, Will Smith could be Won't. That's kind of cute.

Hey, I got one without somebody having to add the third part for me!

Give Me the Night + After the Fire (Before) = The Night Before (Beatles)

I'm pretty sure this is the match Frank was referring to that doesn't work because the opposites aren't totally legit.

jarnon wrote:39. BEAUTIFUL Sunday + 29. The Beach BOYS (Girls) = Beautiful Girls by 67. Sean Kingston

I also don't think this one works because there are two "Boys" artists that could make the middle match, and one of the first rules I learned in Frank's lyrics games is that he usually takes special care not to include key words or phrases more than once (Which is why you can almost never match up the word "Love" in song titles).

Frank does try to take special care about that ... but sometimes Frank forgets, especially when he makes a last minute song change. I should NOT have used the Beach Boys in this puzzle.

So the match becomes...

39. BEAUTIFUL Sunday + 1. BOYS Don't Cry (Girls) = Beautiful Girls by 67. Sean Kingston

And that officially eliminates the Rhinstone Cowboy match because the only three time use song in the game has to be in all three capacities...

Although it appears that the title is not needed to solve this particular Tangredi, that Primitive Radio Gods song is something about Standing Outside A Broken Phone Booth but there's more to it than that.

I looked up the name of the Future song, since nobody was coming up with it. It's Mask Off. I think the other missing lyrics have been up long enough to look them up, as well. This kind of puzzle doesn't really lend itself to filling in the blanks, so to speak.

11. You Can't Turn Me Off (in the middle of turnin' me on) -- High Inergy

28. Mask Off -- Future

59. This one's for the children -- New Kids on the Block

This completes MrK's partial match:

33. SHAKE IT Up + 59. New Kids ON the Block (Off) = Shake It Off by 87. Taylor Swift

Also, 59. NEW Kids On the Block (Old) + 98. Eight DAYS a Week = Old Days by 19. Chicago

I think the Mitch Ryder song is spelled the other way: CC Rider. That would give us this one:

11. HIGH inergy (Low) + 36. CC Rider = Low Rider, by 95. War

Updated consolidation…

Identify the 100 songs below. Then, match them into 40 trios according to a Tangredi, or principle you must discover for yourself.

• One song will be used three times, each time in a different capacity.

• Thirteen songs will be used twice, each time in a different capacity.

• Five songs will be used twice, each time in the same capacity [indicated by (**) in the consolidation].

Let’s kick things off with a song that I have been unjustly accused of including in every lyrics game….
