With Minnesota's loss today, they have 1 game left and only 83 wins. They can't catch the Astros (85) or Rangers (87) for the final wild card spot. They play for pride only tomorrow. Then vacation.

Minnesota has now lost 78 games so the Twins cannot win more than 84 games. Kansas City has already won 94 games so the Twins cannot win the American League Central Division. Two teams in the American League Eastern Division have already won at least 87 games and two teams in the American League Western Division have already won at least 85 games, so Minnesota will finish behind at least two non-division winners.

Babe the Ox will be blue this winter. The Twins have been toastified. --Bob

If the Angels beat Texas today, then Houston will play Game No. 163. Either against Texas to decide the American League West or against the Angels for the last wild card spot. Should be an interesting day. --Bob

And the once shoe-in for 1st Wildcard Yankees may actually be playing that Wild Card game in Houston (Texas wins, Houston wins, Yankees lose).

In other baseball news, the Cardinals get swept in a series of three or more games for the first time in over two years (Also at Atlanta in late July 2013). That kind of losing streak avoidance is uncanny...

The Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim have lost 77 games and won 85 games this season. Texas has won 88 games so the Angels have not won the American League Western Division. Two teams in the American League Western Division have won at least 86 games and two teams in the American League Eastern Division have won at least 87 games, so the Angels have finished behind two non-division winners.

Los Angeles of Anaheim has fallen from grace. The Angels have been toastified. --Bob
