Poor Lizbit... what has she done now to end up getting her mugshot taken? Nothing... in fact, it appears to be a case of mistaken identity! When the publisher of Vandal's first book "Dizzie Miss Lizzie" decided to go Chapter 11 without paying Vandal's royalties or offering back the rights to his book, the rallying cry became "Free Lizzie!" And that is how Lizbit got caught in the crossfire of being the subject for this avatar. Look at that innocent face... sure, she may have once licked a person to death, but what crime could she have possibly committed? I hope Bob Juch has more bail money...
A clever disguise! Or maybe you need to worry about how ES pictures you....

#13. "Revenge of the Zuni Squirrel"
Debuted: 8/9/13

Sprots likes to say sometimes you gotta draw her a diagram. When she admitted ignorance of a scene Karen Black did in a movie where she was viciously attacked by a haunted Zuni figurine, I helped enlighten her with this avatar showing what happens when you reject the advances of a cute, cuddly squirrel for five years. This is the only Sprots/ES avatar where the tables are turned, and ES is threatening harm to his Sprotsie Baby. What is she going to do now that her gift has cornered her on the couch? Not a bad avatar for having never seen the particular movie in question myself...

#12. "Dragging the Red Carpet"
Debuted: 2/25/13

In each of the past three countdowns, MBRS has made the Top 20 with an avatar showing she is not afraid to blur the traditional gender lines. While she did not have such an avatar this year, Buster did the honors instead and looked smashing in his purple dress accompanying ES to the Oscars. ES is not amused, nor would we assume is Phil Robertson... but had Buster looked that good in my comic yesterday, perhaps he'd have gotten that kiss he was seeking after all!

#11. "Batter Up!"
Debuted: 9/19/13

Vandal's works were a font of great ES avatar this year, already placing "Free Lizzie!" in the countdown, and now a second Top 20 avatar he helped inspire. Getting a publishing contract for his book "Good Golly Miss Molly" about a girl and a baseball team brought everyone's favorite little sparkplug Lil out of the woodwork showing off her spunky charm in the on deck circle. I like this avatar even better than last year's "So What?", and there is a shoutout to that avatar in this one with the barely noticeable "LIL" written on the wall. Eye black, check! Big League Chew, check! Weighted donut, check! Stirrups, check! You can count on Lil to spice any scene up, even if no pepper is allowed....

Do your warnings say, "No Pepper Games?" Is that consistent through the stadia you've visited? I've only ever seen, "No Pepper," further confusing the uninitiated. I wonder if it's a regional thing.littlebeast13 wrote:You can count on Lil to spice any scene up, even if no pepper is allowed....
It's hard to tell via Google image search. "No pepper games" brings up more than I would have guessed, while "no pepper" also includes all those and the culinary context-ones, too.

Re: The 2013 ES Avatar Countdown!
I remember seeing it that way on the walls behind the plate of a lot of stadiums on TV before the advertising all over everything at a ballpark revolution took off in the mid 90's. While I have seen "No Pepper" before without the "Games", I recall more instances with the full phrase....Estonut wrote:Do your warnings say, "No Pepper Games?" #10. "Slicing And Dicing With Erin"
Debuted: 3/26/13

Our first entry in this year's Top 10 features the odd pairing of Buster and Erin, and may be the only ES avatar ever inspired by Spiff. When he said the magic words, "It slices!!! It dices!!! It juliennes!!!" after Fanny brought up the Nanner Slicer, it called to mind the legendary king of infomercials Ron Popeil... and here we see Buster doing his best to show off his new slicer he is selling for $19.99... no, make that $14.99 if you act now! Of course, it is his assistant Erin who makes this avatar so great recreating the scene from "Possum Surprise" (see this year's honorables), and running Buster's tail through the slicer. This avatar was used to create the logo for my Retro TV Ad Tuesday posts on my blog when I started up the feature this past Spring....

#9. "Double-O Mangy"
Debuted: 11/8/13

Uh oh! It looks like the world famous spy with a License to Pester has fallen into the clutches of the evil Dr. No! Ick! Deep within her Rocky Mountain hideout, ES finds himself about to be shaken and stirred as he is restrained on a table with a nasty looking laser slowly creeping up towards the family nuts. Will Double-O Mangy escape from the clutches of Dr. No! Ick! and live to work another day for Her Majesty's Squirrel Service, or is he about to become half the squirrel he used to be? He will probably be luckier than the squirrels who were detained trying to go into Iran back in 2007 that inspired this countdown worthy avatar... a situation that was just begging for a reference to the ES trying to get into Colorado gag Sprotsie Baby just loves to play on the poor rodent.

It is a travesty that such a horrible unworthy entry made it into the countdown. That's two too many.
