Right as usual, Fan . . .

#12. "So What?"
Debuted: 9/4/12
2012 saw a couple more characters make their way into the world of ES, and one of them was this Sliver inspired little sparkplug, Lil the pink hedgehog with spiky purple hair. This particular avatar of hers came about after Fanny made a reference to the singer P!nk in Sprots' Observations thread for the word "pink", notably one to her hit "So What". I worked off of that to show Lil's edgy side, sitting atop a counter shrugging her shoulders with drink in hand, not letting your negativity bring her down. "So what?" she says, as she prepares to raise her glass. This one is full of awesome details, not limited to her name appearing very lightly on the side of the counter... an easter egg I had completely forgotten I had added until I went to
flip this design to my shop recently....

#11. "The Poolboy"
Debuted: 8/7/12
DevilKitty kept us entertained this year with some of the goofy profiles she came across on a senior dating site she was a part of, and occasionally threw in a misadventure with some of the losers. After the latest such bad date, I recommended that perhaps she should consider becoming a cougar, and came up with this avatar to show how well that might work out. Here, the sexy temptress Ms. Kitty lies seductively by the pool, slowly lifting her shades to make eyes with her young poolboy Clem. Clem is obviously so caught up in the demoness' spell, that he can't even properly do his job, like fish out that Baby Ruth someone threw in the deep end. Like the aforementioned appearance DK made with Hooly, this is another avatar that is taken up a notch due to the perfection of the expressions and body language of both characters. As DK herself would say, I loveloveloveloveLOVE this avatar... and it damn near made it into the Top 10!

#10. "Clem's Proposal"
Debuted: 11/29/12
The awesome young ladies man clem certainly wasn't going to be taken down your average ordinary groupie. No, it took a girl, no, make that THE girl from Squirrel Hill to steal his heart and make him propose. The shocking announcement on the Bored last month was quickly followed up by this avatar of clem, down on one knee asking his girl from Squirrel Hill to be his forever more. The loving, soft, tender side of clem, the shocked look on the girl... no, make that now the squirrel from Squirrel Hill, and of course, the upset and tearful reactions from his longtime young groupies make this avatar a big time winner. Clem himself loved this avatar, and it was a shoo-in for a Top 10 spot in this year's countdown...

Bet that's more than I match up with Fan.

#9. "Prizon Bitches"
Debuted: 2/2/12
The mysterious "sordid details" behind an alleged trip to Norman, OK Bob Juch had to make were cleared up by Lizbit in
this fascinating tale. That in turn inspired this avatar of poor Lizbit's stay at the doggie jail, in which she gets to meet her new cellmate, Skanki. This was Skanki's first true avatar appearance after she had just been conceived out of literally nowhere just a few nights before in a typical goofy Saturday night chat with Beebs, Sliver, Kiki, and Sprots. The playful lick of the nose and the leash in Skanki's hand may be hinting at intentions that would indeed test even the wild child limits of my dear Lizzie. Luckily, Bob came with the bail money just in the nick of time...

For the record, I still do not know if Lizbit's story is true, nor if any portion thereof has any element of truth whatsoever. I do know that Lizbit has never mentioned meeting Skanki, so I doubt that portion of the avatar is accurate. All I know is that Lizbit continues to speak of Bob Juch with affection and "frienship."

I think ES got his information for the avatar straight from the borzoi's mouth.... so you may be right about its inaccuracy....

#8. "Pamper Me!"
Debuted: 5/16/12
Among my favorite people who were rarely if ever seen in 2012, one of them was Holly Doll, who you all probably know better as secondchance. Life has been keeping her extremely busy since the start of the year, so for her birthday I drew up this charming little avatar of Holly getting some much needed pampering from ES and the gang. This avatar is nearly as busy as its honoree is, with ES on tail duty, Angel brushing hair, MBRS painting nails, her good pal Buster performing a possum pedicure, and of course Lizbit providing her own unique kind of tootsie TLC. This is yet another Top 20 avatar that was
redone for my shop, and one I am happy to say is in the closet of our favorite Valley Skank....

#7. "esPhone"
Debuted: 3/8/12
While I still rarely bother to check into the transcript threads, it seems every year a question on SyndieBAM inspires a highly ranked avatar. When I noticed that a contestant named Genevieve Tubbs received a question asking which iPhone app featured an icon of a sunflower (the answer: Photos), a crystal clear avatar popped into my mind that I still think was one of my most clever ideas of the year. Here in convenient iPhone form we have the condensed version of the Hooly (sunflower) and ES story. What blunt object could have possibly smashed ES's side of the screen? This avatar was a particular favorite of mini's, and I agree with her assessment that it's certainly one of the best artistically done avatars of the year. As for Sprots, well, this one replaced her #1 avatar "Sunchine" and was replaced itself by her #2 avatar "Unicorn Wrangler", so her uninformed opinion of it was a bit different....

#6. "The Unusual Suspects"
Debuted: 6/8/12
Sprots had a furry little varmint nibbling in her garden at night, and she was set out to catch the suspect. I put the suspects in a lineup for Sprots to identify the culprit. This avatar is so full of wonderful little gems, that I'm a bit surprised I actually ranked it this low.. but it was one of my Elite 6 no-brainers for the countdown. Fanny probably best summed up the atmosphere of this avatar when she compared it to The Apple Dumpling Gang. Here we have creepy Buster as Suspect #1, the poor little scapegoat Stinkerball as Suspect #2, the stoolie ES as Suspect #3, and the giddy, innocent "Who Me?" Lil as Suspect #4. I wasn't aware I had mentioned it in the synopsis for this avatar in the anthology, but Lil's spot was originally slated for Rainbow Donkey... in fact, I even think I had started to draw him there before changing my mind and giving Lil her sophomore avatar appearance. It was a wise decision that truly made this one of the best, most delightful, and funniest avatars of the year.
