I don't remember telling the producer about jogging those 20+ blocks. To be honest, I don't recall much of what we walked about. For my "quirk" that I put on my application, I said that I always drink orange juice before a big intellectual event (test, chess game, Millionaire audition, ect.). The first thing he asked me when the interview (with the producer) began was, "So, Steve, where's your orange juice?" I wasn't expecting that, that's for sure. But I spoke loudly and with confidence, maintained eye contact, all that (except for those two times I checked out the camera).
Do they draw names randomly out of the pool, or do the producers simply review every contestant in the pool and then choose one there (aka not random)?
I've done a bit of research about my odds now that I'm in the pool. One source said anywhere from 2/3 to 3/4 of the people in the pool are called to be on the show. Another source said about 350 are kept in the pool, 175 episodes are filmed a season, and approximately 1.75 people are on each show (one person's full run, plus 3/4 of another person's). So it looks like my odds, based on at least those sources, are about 50%.
I'm obviously ok with being on either College week or the general show. My knowledge of other college's mascots and sports statistics approach zero very quickly
But if I get the call saying I'm on college week, let me tell you this: Every free second I have will be spent studying college sports statistics. Who needs sleep?
