New playoff standings:

NFC
1. (S) ATL 8-2
2. (E) PHI 7-3
3. (N) CHI 7-3
4. (W) SEA 5-5
5. (WC) NOS 7-3
6. (WC) GBY 7-3
---------------
TBY 7-3
NYG 6-4
WAS 5-5

AFC
1. (E) NYJ 8-2
2. (N) BAL 7-3
3. (W) KCC 6-4

5. (WC) NEP 8-2
6. (WC) PIT 7-3
---------------
IND 6-4
OAK 5-5
SAN 5-5
MIA 5-5
TEN 5-5

Tampa Bay is the odd team out at the moment in the NFC even at 7-3. The Colts are flirting with missing the playoffs for the first time since 2001.

If I didn't have high hopes thinking Brett Favre would help the Bears get 1 game ahead in the division I'd only have one pick wrong. I'll still pat myself on the back though for finally remember to make my picks this week. :)

Seems unlikely. St. Louis and Seattle are both 5-6 right now. They meet in the finale so the winner of that game would have to go 1-3 in the other games to stay at 7-9.

Hmmm. Now that I look at their schedules it could happen.

St. Louis remaining schedule
@Arizona - 50% chance of losing
@ New Orleans - loss
Kansas City - loss
San Francisco - 50% chance of losing

That would leave them 5-10, 6-9, or 7-8 heading into the game @ Seattle.

Seattle remaining schedule
Carolina - 50% chance of losing
@ San Francisco - 50% chance of losing
Atlanta - loss
@ Tampa Bay - loss

Same for Seattle. 5-10, 6-9, or 7-8 heading into the game against St. Louis.

Not unreasonable to think they would both be 6-9 heading into that final game.

Can San Francisco get in on the action if they beat both St. Louis and Seattle? That would put them at 6-7 with these other games:

@ Green Bay - loss
@ San Diego - loss
Arizona - 50% chance of loss

That would put SF also at 6-9 heading into the game with Arizona.

This could happen!

Never underestimate the suckiness of the NFC West..... it's too bad they still have that game against each other, or we could go for the jugular and root for a 6-10 playoff team.....

They didn't help us much in the campaign for a 7-9 playoff team today. Both St. Louis and Seattle won. SF did lose but we really need them to help out in the next few weeks by beating STL and SEA.

I picked against St. Louis on my hopes alone and paid the price. I had absolutely no faith in Seattle rolling over to the Panthers, though.....

I will keep hope alive though..... even if it does cost me in the Pigskin Pool....

New playoff standings after week 14:

NFC
1. (S) ATL 11-2
2. (N) CHI 9-4
3. (E) PHI 9-4
4. (W) STL 6-7
5. (WC) NOS 10-3
6. (WC) NYG 9-4
---------------
TBY 8-5
GBY 8-5

AFC
1. (E) NEP 11-2
2. (N) PIT 10-3
3. (W) KCC 8-5
4. (S) JAC 8-5
5. (WC) BAL 9-4
6. (WC) NYJ 9-4
---------------
SAN 7-6
IND 7-6
MIA 7-6

Some more progress toward a sub-500 team in the playoffs.

NFC West at the moment
STL 6-7
SEA 6-7
SFO 5-8
ARI 4-9

St. Louis and Seattle do meet on the last Sunday but the Rams still face KC and SF before then while the Seahawks play Atlanta and Tampa. I think our best chance is:

Seattle lose to ATL and TBY but beat St. Louis at home in the finale
St. Louis lose to KC, beat SF, and then lose to Seattle
San Fran lose to San Diego, lose to St. Louis, and then beat Arizona

That would leave the standings as:

SEA 7-9
STL 7-9
SFO 6-10
ARI 6-10 (at best)
No matter where you go, there you are.

I'm hoping Kusch forgets how to pick winners. He's picked up 10 points on me in the last three weeks. --Bob
