No can do. Not only do I want and need a do-nothing weekend, but construction this weekend will make getting between IL and STL nearly impossible.....

I did get a ticket to the 9/30 game. If I catch a Spilly ball, it will sit on your mantle.....

Better question, how much do you think 2lo's record setting September homerun ball would go for on the open market.......?

You mean you wouldn't give it to Lizbit?

I think the question would be moot anyway, as he will probably have at least 25 by the time you get to see him....

Sigh.... everyone remembers 715, but nobody ever cares for 755......

I'm not sure if Lizbit could be entrusted to preserve history like that. Maybe I'd substitute one of my non-catches, she'd never know the difference.....

I would know the difference! The real ball would smell like Mr. 2lo's bat, and any non-catch would smell like old ballpark popcorn and you.

MInd if I give a little advice. If you are having trouble picking the 7 or the 10 pins, while you are doing your warmup throws or if you are doing open play by yourself, shoot the corner pins on your first ball, then do your "strike ball" with the second throw. This give you practice 10 times at the things you are having trouble with and 10 "strike balls" with the 1-3 or 1-2 still intact.

Ray

P.S. This little bit of advice was given to me about 40 years ago by some mailman that moved to St. Louis from Indy in the late 50's

I like your steady improvement and increasing consistency. I also think Ray's advice sounds pretty good. Of course, even though I am no great shakes at bowling, I am old enough to remember Dick Weber, who was.

I would leave two or three ten pins a game and miss almost all of them. By doing what he told me, I went from a high 160's-low 170's to a high 190's in about a year and a half. When I was open bowling, I would see how many times in a row I could only hit the ten pin without hitting the six pin or going in the gutter. One year in mens league where we kept a kitty, we had to pay a nickle for every open frame we had every night. In 95 games for the season, I only paid 16 nickles.

Throw out the first week when I was trying to get back in the groove, and I have pretty much picked up where I left off when I last bowled regularly in 1997. I went 1/2 on 10 pins last night (Didn't leave a single 7), and picked all but a couple of my easy spares. That is the secret to keeping my average up since strikes are a total hit or miss for me, and I have yet to even string together 3 in a row this year, or get more than 3 in any one game. That may just be bad luck, or maybe I am throwing slightly different than in the old days, we'll see as the weeks roll on....

Crash Davis said something to the effect that Nuke LaLoosh should thank the gods for reaching down when he was a baby and giving him a thunderbolt for an arm. Earl Anthony would probably thank the gods for making him left-handed.

So who should we "thank" for deciding that it was necessary to reverse the film and make him right handed for his instructional video?

That would be every day. Since we're 85% to 95% of the population, all the tools are made for us, all the controls, just about everything. We've even got the language -- ever notice the similarity between sinistral (left-handed) and sinister?

Fun fact: Did you know that animals are right and left pawed too? Bigfoot was the most right-powed individual I've ever met, and my old dog Sandy was a lefty.
