The simple solution is for lb to email Marley every time he's thinking of posting to make sure he only puts material in his post that Marley considers suitable for quoting, thus saving everyone immense amounts of time.

I encourage the use of signatures in all posts whether they're cowardlypostsigners or otherwise. If I MUST wade through those dumbass pyramids, looking for even the tiniest nuggest of anything informative, and I wonder who wrote what, at least I don't have to scroll back up to the top to see who the author is. So sign away.............

2. That's what I've been thinkin', DK. I can't figure out who said what except for lb on the bigger Pyramids. Even if you scroll to the top, it's hard to track those skinny paths up to the author.

Truncating the pyramids is one of my primary campaign planks, DK! If we get enough BBs to endorse it, we can convince tubadave to activate the Bored control to cap them automatically!

I'd annoint him King of the World (and maybe do his laundry) if he would do that.

Now here is someone that knows how to get my attention.

Of course, I bought a washer and dryer for the first time not too long ago, and so laundry isn't nearly the hassle it used to be. Offers to cook and/or clean my apartment will probably result in very, very truncated pyramids.

As usual, I agree with Marley. I also agree that the more some people express their annoyance with certain board behaviors, the more of that sort of behavior we are likely to see. A couple weeks ago, I was out of town and tried to use my semi-smart cell phone to see if there was any interesting news on the Bored. If you think the pyramids are annoying on your computer screen, try reading them on a 2-inch cell phone screen.

I know your practice of signing an "lb13" at the bottom of every single post you write dates back to the time of our imp infestation, but has that become an ingrained OCD habit that you can't shake, even though we don't need it here? If the author block at the side of the screen isn't enough of an identification, you could always use the signature feature to attach it automatically.

To answer this very shortly....... yes it had become a habit. Not an OCD habit, because I rarely use it to sign game posts, but on the Yahoo Boreds and the BBBL message Bored, and anythign else connected with this Bored, I sign all of my messages with lb13. Maybe when the 9th anniversary of my first use of "lb13" comes up in a couple weeks, I'll have a celebration thread for your sake.....

I used to do the same thing, habitually putting "tubadave" at the bottom of every message. I never really did that anywhere else on the internets, just on the Bored. Dunno why.

I think I still do it on occasion, sometimes without even realizing it. Old habits die hard.

And I can't imagine that LB would ever be OCD about anything. Inconceivable!

Why does it have to be deleted? Is that some ingrained OCD habit that you can't shake, even though you don't need to?

When I'm replying to a quote, I take some time to edit the quoted message so that I'm only quoting the relevant portion of the text, and the "lb13" portion is not relevant, since his name already appears at the top of the quote box. This effort is consistent with my stand against gratuitous pyramid building, which fills pages with hundreds and hundreds of lines of duplicated text to add a one-line response to the bottom of it. I'm talking the talk and walking the walk, here!

Deleting my "lb13" has nothing to do with your TTP stand. Posts build pyramids, not the text within them.

It is just as much a "habit" for you as my signing my posts is for me......

It's not allure, it's laziness. Unless I want to make 100% sure people know exactly what I'm responding to, I leave the quote feature as it is....

And I am opposed to an artificial limit on pyramid size just because...... so there....
