That was a semi-gratuitous reference to ghostjmf's usage of "they". But it was also semi-on-topical, since wintergreen was making a grammatical protest to a historical fact.
I got the point.

However...maybe I'm blind, but I don't see where it applies in the passage Cal quoted.
I don't think I'm involved in this.

No, you're right that there's nothing in wintergreen's passage requiring gender obfuscation, hence that was the semi-gratuitous part of the reference.

Isn't that rather high-brow gratuitousity?
Enough already. It's my fault! Get over it!

So, perhaps "grammatical" wasn't the correct word I was reaching for? Is there an adjective form of "vocabulary"?

Wintergreen was talking about using vocabulary to make a point about a social issue that was resolved 150 years ago by a war and a constitutional amendment, enaht.

Does semanticalosity have one L or two? Wouldn't want Rexer to drop the Spelling Police Hammer on me......

Semanticalosity?
Marvelous!

Semanticalosity can be wintergreen's special word, just like ontopicosity is mine! 8)

You made it up, spell it like you want. I would suggest using 3 just for that S. F. touch.

I did not make it up! It's not my fault I have a more extensive vocabularitiousness than you do....

Getting back on topic...
1. America is good.
No s**t, Sherlock! I don't know anybody in America who has ever said that America is bad. It's just a handful of the people in America who are bad.
2. I believe in God and He is the center of my life.
Sorry, but the revolution is for Christians only!
3. I must always try to be a more honest person than I was yesterday.
How's that working out for you, Beck?
4. The family is sacred. My spouse and I are the ultimate authority, not the government.
Tell that to Michael Schiavo.
5. If you break the law, you pay the penalty. Justice is blind and no one is above it.
Unless you're George W. Bush, Dick Cheney, Karl Rove, Alberto Gonzales, Tom DeLay, Bob Novak...
6. I have a right to life, liberty, and pursuit of happiness, but there is no guarantee of equal results.
I suppose Beck is directing this toward women, homosexuals, and minorities.
7. I work hard for what I have and I will share it with who I want to. Government cannot force me to be charitable.
Looks like Beck won't be paying taxes ever again. Next stop for him: a post in Obama's cabinet.
8. It is not un-American for me to disagree with authority or to share my personal opinion.
Unless the government is run by Republicans. Then that would be treason and sympathizing with the terrorists.
9. The government works for me. I do not answer to them, they answer to me.
See #8.

Semi-ontopcosity?
I had one of those when I turned 50 years old. I was semi-coherent at the time.
I believe in the usefulness of useless information.
