See above, I know you have it in you. Maybe you're not especially chatty or gratuitous IRL, I don't know. But here, you're demonstrably proficient in both chattiness and gratuitousness. Well done! Carry on!

None of those examples seem either chatty or gratuitous. "Chatty" to me means prattling on about things, when generally (except for my top o' the mornin'® posts) I'm a reactor, not an actor. And "gratuitous" means posting about nothing in particular, whereas I tend only to post when responding to a direct statement. If I could produce a Venn diagram, "chatty" and "gratuitous" would overlap by a considerable degree.

You've been prattling on all morning about this. Plus, I'd say #5 on the overall list and 3647 posts on this board alone is plenty chatty and gratuitious. (Gratuitous by your definition, not mine.)

My position on the list is largely due to longevity rather than chattiness as such.

I think I included the squirrel at the tap specifically because I had just registered ES, but that is not ES. The first official ES sighting in a BB portrait is in Kay's, which I did in July....

We just need to get our definitions straight, is all.

Replying when someone else "talks" can be, and often is, chatty -- light, informal conversation.

Persons who are non-garrulous by nature are often chatty, and they can and do prattle on in a gratuitous way about a variety of topics. You, for instance -- music, groups, other people's posts, the church projects you're involve with -- all very pleasant and chatty.

Cal is very chatty, and I don't think he ever hijacks a thread or goes out of his way to interject into other conversations.

It's not just you. The smilie heads aren't round any more; they're more alien head shaped. I think it has something to do with the updates Dave worked on last night, and it may only be noticable on certain interfaces.

The list is a ranking of each poster's cumulative post count from the Bored's "Day One", which is recognized as November 23, 1999. Thus, obviously the top parts of the list are occupied largely by BB's who have been here for years. It currently takes over 2700 posts just to make the Top 100!

And the Sploofus one has to do with the leaderboard of a different site that contains people who happen to post here as well. That one has nothing to do with the number of posts somebody makes on this board.

And some folks were so talkative back in the day that they're still near the top of the list, even though they haven't been around for years!

BTW, Second Chance, if you want to see the recent rankings, counting just those posts made here on the Raspberry Bored, you can click on the "Members" link at the top of the Bored, then click twice on the "Posts" column. The first time will rank everyone in ascending order, the second in descending order.
