I hate starting new threads. But maybe I went too far this time.

I dunno. I'd forgotten that in 2008 I pointed out what appeared to be an organized effort to deliberately appeal to racists on behalf of the Republican nominee for President. Donny learned the lesson well. Make the appeal. Just own it and don't be subtle about it. Your party will stand by you regardless if they think you can get away with it. --Bob

No worries - it's always fun to revisit some of the old bat-shit craziness, as opposed to the new, well, you know. Some of this stuff NEVER gets old.

It is nice to see posts from members who no longer visit. This thread includes Wintergreen's (probable) shortest post ever (2 words)!

It's also nice to see another absent, respected member (Weyoun) stick it to Bob####s.

You make a habit of complaining when posters overgeneralize about the entire Republican Party, yet in this very thread you employ an overgeneralization about the Democratic Party. And I'll note again that the prediction I made 11 years ago about the Republican Party if its leaders and voters did not address the cancer in its ranks has come to pass. --Bob

We don't really have copy editors anymore, but the quote I saw was attributed to someone, so a copy editor wouldn't have changed that, if if there had been one.

Why am I not in this thread somewhere?

What surprised me is that the article said the defendants were out to defraud Commissioner Causey. Actually, the indictment says they conspired to defraud Causey's constituents.

It's weird that sloppy journalism bothers me more than the bribery. I guess I expect an asshole Congressman to evolve into a corrupt politician.

First page of the thread.
1) That was 10.5 years ago, "Tue Oct 21, 2008 5:13 pm."

2) It was a direct response/mock of your statement directly above it. You don't recognize that?

“... make it a habit. “ implies it happens a lot. Not just once, or twice. And it implies continuous action, thus several recent references should be easy to find.

Reread what I wrote. I did not say he makes a habit of overbroad generalizations about Democrats. I said he did so in this thread. And then I backed it up.

Estonut makes a habit of calling out generalizations about Republicans that he views as overbroad. He knows and I know that's true. And since that part of the conversation was between him and me, I don't think I care whether you know or believe that to be true or not.

But I wouldn't want facts to get in the way of your attempted pile-on. --Bob
