Senator Whitehorse was OBVIOUSLY reading from a pre-prepared script. He should fire his staff. He obviously did not listen to Kavanaugh's opening statement, where he emotionally apologized to Renate, and explained what the Alumnius meant.

Kavanaugh's emotion seemed most sincere when Whitehouse mentioned Renate's last name, which everyone else had politely omitted.

Whitehorse brought that up among the fart, ffffff and Bermuda Triangle smears. His staff should have crossed that part out.

Well, one thing comes to mind and that is that the Republicans wouldn't have done that for the same reason that the Democrats didn't do that in the Gorsuch hearings, because there was nothing in Garland's history.

Would a highly public Supreme Court hearing followed by an unprecedented down vote simply because Obama nominated Garland have made a difference with the general public in the 2016 election? Who knows? But the Republicans didn't have to face the music because of the stunt they pulled earlier.

I would hope that the main point of the me.too thing is to encourage women who are being abused to report it, and try and support it with as much evidence as they can. That is the best way of prosecuting and punishing men who abuse women.

But I don't think that is the goal of the me,too movement. Unfortunately, like a lot of the 'movements' these days, it is a manufactured tool of the left, and is being carried out too far.

The genesis of #MeToo was a noble call for a world free from sexual harassment and violence. To treat women worse than men in the workplace or the court of law is fundamentally corrosive to America's ideals of justice and fundamental human dignity. And because of the movement, powerful men who'd preyed upon vulnerable women for decades were toppled overnight, and corporate giants were brought down as their vile behavior came to light.

Yet as a conservative woman, I am concerned that, in the case of Brett Kavanaugh, the noble justice of #MeToo has been politically hijacked and weaponized, co-opted by Democrats seeking to extrapolate this just cause for liberal policies that go beyond equal and fair treatment for women. They are attempting to tip the scales of justice away from evidence and data toward emotion and speculation -- assuming guilt first -- and without credible evidence to support their conclusion.

Well, I can tell you as someone who has spent a good bit of time writing and editing that highly intelligent and well-educated people can and do make a lot of grammatical mistakes, even in books that they work on for months. Many of them haven't had classes or training in English grammar and style since their freshman year in college, if that. That's why we have editors who are specialists in grammar and style.

And I'd add that few people are writing something as obviously personal and painful as what Dr. Ford recounts in her letter. Under those circumstances, she might not have paid that careful attention to grammar, and I would highly doubt she'd send it off to an editor before releasing it.
