PSM, how do they test the dogs to see if they're cat-friendly?

At the rescue agency in OKC, they actually try to put the dogs in foster homes with both dogs and cats to see how the dogs behave in "real life" situations, not only with the cats but also with smaller dogs and children. If the foster family sees or senses any animosity on the dog's part, the dog is removed from that home immediately and given a collar of a specific color (orange, I think) so that cat-owners can tell right away whether any particular dog might be cat-safe before any expense is incurred or falling-in-love committed.
