Mr. Obama had this to say today.

“People’s families are off limits,” he said. “People’s children are especially off limits. This shouldn’t be part of our politics. It has no relevance to Gov. Palin’s performance as a governor or her potential performance as a vice president. ”

“I would strongly urge people to back off these kinds of stories,” he added. “That shouldn’t be a topic in our politics.”
Suitguy is not bitter.

feels he represents the many educated and rational onlookers who believe that the hysterical denouncement of lay scepticism is both unwarranted and counter-productive

The problem, then, is that such calls do not address an opposition audience so much as they signal virtue. They talk past those who need convincing. They ignore actual facts and counterargument. And they are irreparably smug.

Oh man, I can't believe that I agree with Obama.

Bristol IS pregnant.
I think she and her mama better find some different birth control.

On a somewhat unrelated note, I was surprised to hear a conservative friend in KANSAS tell me last night that her 15-year-old daughter and ALL OF HER FRIENDS are on The Pill.

All the girls are in sports and they don't want their periods.

They don't want pimples.

The mothers are thrilled that the girls aren't having mood swings.

Pregnancy prevention apparently has nothing to do with it.

I thought abstinence was all the rage with the kids these days....

Oh. Right.

Pregnancy prevention apparently has nothing to do with it.

I can understand saying that about an unmarried girl, but why Sarah Palin? Perhaps she has wanted these children?
Well, then

True, and I bet they ARE loved but given that the other four are so much older AND she had both boys and girls AND she was at an age where birth is more dangerous AND she was governor, I suspect ... this baby wasn't planned.

Guess what? I was an accident. Number three. Happened in 1952. So, what's the point?

I keep having to edit. I think I'm beginning to understand your point of view. Anything unplanned is wrong. Is that correct?

“People’s families are off limits,” he said. “People’s children are especially off limits."

Bet McCain wishes Karl Rove had this philosophy in 2000. JSM would be finishing up his second term in office. (Think South Carolina)

Olivia wasn't exactly planned. Of course, I wasn't exactly taking the proper precautions so she wasn't totally unplanned but whatever.

I look at that sweet darling little face and I think about how freaking lucky we are to have her.

I'm pretty sure Sarah Palin looks at her little boy and thinks the same thing.

I must say, it was a classy thing to say.

Unlike those who are throwing all sorts of crap about Sarah Palin, when some of those crap-throwers were probably Edwards' supporters. Who was f******** around with Jay McInerney's old girlfriend while his wife was still going through cancer treatment.

Speaking of which, why would anyone second guess anyone's decision to run for office based upon a family event--minus something legal or deal-breaking. I hope those who are questioning Sarah Palin didn't question Edwards run for the presidency while his wife was ill. I posted, at that time, that no one should second guess someone's reason for running vis a vis a family "deal". I supported their decision, and I'm a fricking "conservative".
Well, then

She very specifically didn't support Buchanan. In fact, she was on Steve Forbes' committee to elect him in 2000.

That is supposed to be the rumor passed around S.C. in 2000. I didn't hear it, but then I was voting in the Democrat Primary back then

Please tell me you are not forming your opinions about those to the center or right of you by not-specifically mainstream groups. Please tell me you're not using a European or Middleeastern model. Sometimes peeps may have similar leanings, but...

Things are not always clear cut or cut and dried. Like aged wood, which is clean and pure.

Yes. Too bad she won't be able to spend any time with him since campaigning is generally considered to be a 15-hour-a-day activity.
