The Netherlands Antilles has won its first medal as well.
For this Olympics? I don't see them listed.

They won a silver in 1988.
Ah. The Netherlands Antilles almost won a medal in this Olympics but it has been taken away.

I'll spoilerize this. I'm sorry if the damage is already done.

Regarding Netherlands Antilles, shall we say there was a rather dynamic situation going on this morning. After a protest was filed, the aforementioned athlete was DQ'd

Did any of y'all Mr. and Miss Know-It-Alls know that there's a town in France named Here? Well, there is.

I'm pretty sure I heard somewhere that that's where this guy's from, and he had a choice of whether he wanted to try to win a medal for Here or Togo.

Up to 80 countries winning at least one medal. That ties the record.

The Bahamas joined the list today with a bronze medal in the men's triple jump.

Up to 85 medal-winning countries after day 14.

Moldova, Mauritius, Belgium, Ireland, and Nigeria picked up their first medals of these games. Ireland and Nigeria each won two medals today.

That was the first medal ever for Mauritius, a bronze medal in boxing.

There are 204 countries competing. It doesn't look like half will win at least one medal but that day is coming.

I decided to go back and look at Sports Illustrated's medal picks.

Most of the projected "top ten" coutnries will be the same, but the ones near the top will win less medals than projected. It appears that the US and China might fall short of the projected 121 and 102 medals respectively, with the US especially having fewer than the 45 golds projected.

While Cuba and the Netherlands have "underperformed", South Korea is one of the few "major" countries to exceed the projections.

One more country picks up a medal on Saturday bringing the total to 86 with one day to go.

Sudan gets their first medal ever, a silver, in the Men's 800m.

We know that Iceland will win its first medal on Sunday when its men's team competes in the final of Team Handball. It's just a question of gold or silver.

And Iceland makes it 87 countries with a medal on the final day.

That was Iceland's 4th all-time medal. They still have no golds.
