I knew there was going to be an earthquake today, but nobody seems to like my predictions anymore, so I kept it to myself....

We live really close to Chino Hills. We were in the car when the earthquake hit, on our way to the OC Fair. We had a lovely day at the Fair. Some of the girls' friends were texting them to tell them how bad it was, but we didn't go home until we were done with the Fair.

When we got home, it looked like our house was robbed. Several of my lovely Arts and Crafts style lamps fell and broke into pieces. (They are made of art glass and they were very fragile.) I have some pottery downstairs in the dining room. The pottery fell off the china buffet onto the floor. It didn't break or put gouges in my table or chairs, which I am happy about.

Thank goodness Jeff bolted down all of our bookshelves because whlie many of the shelves emptied, the shelves themselves stayed upright. Emma's TV fell out of her armoire and many things fell off the shelves of her closet. Most of the drawers in the house are opened. Pictures fell off the wall. Maddie's room is totally trashed. I don't know if it's from the earthquake, because I don't usually go in there.

The cats are pretty freaked out. Lucy is the only cat who came out from under the bed, Lily and Jasper are still hiding.

Everyone is ok though!

I can imagine--having to deal with those earthquake poltergeists all by themselves while you're off enjoying yourselves at the fair!

I'm glad everyone's OK. Stuff can be replaced.

I'd send pictures, but I am embarassed by how messy my house looks right now.

My medicine cabinet dumped into my sink. I have DVDs and CDs all over my computer area.

The epicenter is about seven miles from my house.

Holy crap. The intensity of the earthquake is similar to what we experienced in, yes, Rochester, NY back in 1983 before we moved to HUNTINGTON BEACH. Fuzzy?

We were scared shitless.

I remember once we were ensconced in CA. we'd have pictures routinely fall on the floor or chandelier sway, but never anything to write home about.

I'm so sorry you all had such damage and fright.
Well, then

You'll never have a more perfect excuse for having a messy house.

Jeff's Shadowboxed Millionaire 1,000,000 pin set fell off the wall. Part of the box broke, but he is glueng it right now. None of the pins were damaged and the medallion wasn't dinged up.

The liquor cabinet is 100% ok.

Many wine glasses fell over. I opened the cabinet slowly and between Jeff, Emma and I were able to slowly pull things out and prevent them from rolling out of the cabinet and breaking.

Some of our Suchard Chocolate tins and cars fell into the toilet.

A metal and art glass candle holder that Jeff bought for me as an anniversay gift fell off the shelf, broke and gouged the wood floors.

People ask, "is your refrigerator running?" Ours may not be running, but it moved out from the wall about six inches.

YUM!!! How were they???

Well at least you had a nice day before you came back to the mess. And at least everyone is okay, even if the cats are a little freaked. They'll be okay and that's all that really matters. Glad you are okay.

Emma had a deep friend Avocado, which she liked.

Jeff and I split a pulled pork sandwich and a funnel cake. I like looking at the deep friend stuff, but I seldom buy it.

I forgot, they also had Deep Fried Frog Legs too.

I've tried the deep fried oreos and I wasn't a fan...I like that oreos have a crispiness and when deep fried they're soft. The cupcakes actually sound good. Although at fairs, I usually stick to the basic fried dough and cheese fries. Maybe a candy apple or some donuts to take home. The avocado sounds interesting.

I gave the girls money and told them that they could keep the change.

They bought wristbands to go on unlimited rides and then bought one item each. There were people giving out free bags of Dibs at the fair and the girls decided that rather than spending money, they would get free bags of Dibs when they were hungry.

Is this the first quake for the kitties? I hope they recover. I bet they stay under the beds for a while.

It is for Jasper, Lily and Lucy have felt smaller quakes.

Lily and Lucy are fine, but Jasper is still hiding. I just spent some time stroking his ears, under the bed, but he won't come out.

The bunny cage moved about six inches. The girls took them out of the cage and they are playing in the backyard right now. They seem fine.

What kinds of games do bunnies play? Do they ever do whirl-around tag, like Lizbit and me?

They like to play a game called, "Dig Up Julie's Rosebushes" and they also like to dig burrows. Jasper likes to herd the rabbits, so if he doesn't come out, it will be difficult to put them back in their cage tonight.

I have a Mission style computer desk next to another Mission style desk with leaves. Because I keep the leaves up, Jeff attached the two desks together. One of the lamps that broke fell underneath a leaf and I am having a difficult time cleaning it up because I have to reach through the slats on the side of the desks and pick up the glass piece by piece.

I was sorry to hear about the broken and damaged items, and pleased to know that Jeff has his priorities straight regarding what to fix first  . Glad to hear you were able to get that cupboard open and rescue the contents. Since the wine survived, it's only right that the drinking vessels are still available!

When I joined Confessor and Frogman in Austin for trivia last week, I indulged in a deep fried 3 Musketeer. The bar was cut in three chunks, dipped in donut batter and fried. Served on a plate next to a small dish of vanilla ice cream. Chocolate sauce was drizzled over chunks and ice cream. The bar was warm and gooey, and fabulous with a small bite of ice cream with each yummy mouthful. If you ask the guys, they will confirm that I didn't even offer to let them have a taste.
