Two notebook pages and about 45 minutes wasted. Ha!
Spoiler
I was so proud of myself for remembering that some were cancelled for the World Wars and then totally didn't think about the Winter games not starting until years later than the Summer ones.

On the other hand, I'm amazed that I got so close on the geography question. I have to go get an atlas and try to make out a tiny portion of Michigan that touches Lake Ontario.

I'm darned good and ready.

1. What U.S. states and Canadian provinces border Lake Ontario?
Ontario, Canada, and New York, U.S.A. I may be wrong, but I think that's all.

2. What name was shared by the first three Holy Roman Emperors?
Mr. Emperor Otto, with numbers

3. What country is the largest producer of orange juice?
The United States? (I'm not allowed to drink this. I don't know why.)

4. According to the IOC, how many Olympic Games have been held in the modern era? I’m looking for the total of Summer and Winter games actually contested prior to this year’s in Beijing.
45?
Sou iu koto de.

Stupid Michigan!
However, I have had a fun time this morning reading all the names of the falls around there. I can't decide if my favourite is Devil's Punchbowl Falls or its neighbour to the east, Balls Falls.

And I never would have looked at a map if it hadn't been for this question. And I wouldn't have looked at it anyway if other's answers hadn't made me think that my answer was so very close.

So, I don't even care about the 2 points. It's a win!

ANSWERS

1. What U.S. states and Canadian provinces border Lake Ontario?

New York and Ontario

2. What name was shared by the first three Holy Roman Emperors?

Otto

3. What country is the largest producer of orange juice?

Brazil. It isn't even close. They produce over half the orange juice in the world.

4. According to the IOC, how many Olympic Games have been held in the modern era? I’m looking for the total of Summer and Winter games actually contested prior to this year’s in Beijing.

45. 25 Summer and 20 Winter. The Winter Olympics started several years after the Summer but gained one back when they went to the alternate year system. I believe the numbering difference between the Summer Olympics and Winter comes about because of terminology. The Summer Games are the Games of whatever Olympiad. "Olympiad" being a 4 year period, not necessarily a four year period between Games. So the Games this summer are the Games of the 29th Olympiad but only the 26th contested. The Olympiads kept happening whether there were Games or not so the number kept increasing during the Wars. The Winter Games, on the other hand, are numbered by Games actually held. So the Games in Vancouver in 2010 will be the 21st Winter Olympic Games. See the difference?
