I'm almost absolutely certain I know the correct combination, but not million dollar question sure.
I learned them all off one of the best Nintendo games I was ever given as a gift..... Side Pocket. Well, actually, Balls 11-15 never existed in that game, but I knew the color pattern was the same for the stripes as it was for the solids (yellow, blue, red, purple, orange, green, magenta).
And given that me and my Dad used to play the hell out of 9-ball on that game, I wouldn't even have to think of what color it was......

It's easy to know that it's yellow, but is it white with a yellow stripe or yellow with a white stripe? Just being asked casually, I'd immediately say for certain white with a yellow stripe. But, if somebody said 'are you sure?' or 'I think it's yellow with a white stripe', and I had to really think about it, I wouldn't be sure.
Or, as I said, I'd be almost absolutely positively dead certain, but I wouldn't be bet your life or million dollar question certain. Maybe I'm just not decisive the more I think about things.
I'm darned good and ready.

Interesting. My first instinct was to say yellow with a white stripe, but the more I thought about it, I remembered that it's the stripes that are colored, not the ball itself...
So I'd say it's white with a yellow stripe....

Oh, and funny that you say you learned the colours from your Nintendo game and that the 7/15 is magenta. Because I've ever only seen it as maroon. Either Nintendo's colour scheme is off or your screen is. Or my eyes are off. Ha!
I'm darned good and ready.

I'm not good with pinpointing colors past the basic old 8 count Crayola colors. I was going for something between red and brown, and all I could think of was magenta. But you are right, maroon it is....
So why aren't they called Maroon 7 then.....? Ha!

2 points per correct answer, 10 points if you get all four correct. Answer with a Spoiler tag in one post in this thread before noon CDT on Monday, July 21.
No outside sources allowed. Just take your best guess.
2. Ben Nevis is the highest mountain on what island?
Great Britain. At least I guess that is the official name of the island, had never really thought about it before!
2. What Roman emperor was born Lucius Domitius Ahenobarbus?
Based almost entirely on the "letter of the day" I will guess Nero.
2. Let’s try a picture again. What is the common name of this marsupial, Myrmecobius fasciatus?
Can't think of a single marsupial that starts with an "N"! Howza about a Nangaroo...
2. What color is the Nine ball in a standard U.S. set of billiard balls?
White with a yellow stripe.
Not entirely sure why all the questions are numbered with a 2. No doubt I missed something.
Again.
Seems like in retrospect some past QODs have also been numbered rather at random. Damn, now I am going to have to check and see...

It just occured to me last night when I saw something at work that showed the color magenta that the 3 Ball on that Side Pocket game was most definitely magenta. I remember thinking that the 3 used to be some red-violet color until the first time I ever saw real pool balls and noticed it was actually red. And come to think of it, the 5 ball always looked reddish....
So the Nintendo was bad at colorizing the balls.... just not the 7.....

I just happen to be at my mom's house this morning and the computer is in the pool room. So I sauntered on over and checked out the colour situation. The 3 is tomato red and the 7 is definitely maroon. The 5 is bright Halloween orange, not a trace of red. Stick to colourizing Koopas, Nintendo!
I'm darned good and ready.

The different lands I'd have to think of....
The first was just plain, the second was the desert, third was water, fourth was the giant land (Always a cool one to play!), fifth was the sky kingdom, sixth was ice, seven was the one with all the damn piranah plants, then there was Bowser's level 8.....
Hey, not bad for not having played the thing in over 10 years!

World 1 was Grass Land and World 8 was Dark Land. I think the official name for World 7 was Tube Land, but we always called it Pipe Land. I think it was objectively the toughest (nothing so frustrating as getting stuck in a pipe with nothing but dead ends and all you can do is wait for the time to run out and die), but Sky Land was always treacherous for me as I have a fear of falling. I'd yank my controller up like I was an airplane pilot. Ha!

So, is there a reason for the question all being numbered with a 2? Or is that some sort of secret game within a game?

On one day last week I mistakenly had two question #2s. This was pointed out by a couple of people so I made this quiz have all #2s.
We may soon have a quiz with all #4s. Or even (gasp)no numbers at all.
It will be pandelirium.
