Even if what tgirl is claiming is true (and I note her conspicuous failure to source the claim), the existence of one bad apple is not a reason to change a policy affecting huge numbers of people. --Bob

You've never seen me argue, here or anywhere, for abolishing the cops. That is a position held only by the extreme left wing of the Democratic Party, which has much less influence over the Party than Republicans like to pretend.Beebs52 wrote: ↑Wed Jul 13, 2022 4:11 pmWhat?!?Bob78164 wrote: ↑Wed Jul 13, 2022 3:49 pmSeems to me that's pretty much like arguing the existence of a Derek Chauvin is a reason to abolish all cops.silverscreenselect wrote: ↑Wed Jul 13, 2022 3:46 pmUp until the arrest, right wing media was claiming the story was all a Democratic hoax. Thanks. That explains why tgirl didn't source her claim that Fuentes is "one of the benficiaries of [President] Biden and [Vice President] Harris's failed immigration plan." She made it up (or credulously accepted the word of someone else who made it up). According to the story, Fuentes has been living in Columbus for at least seven years, long before the start of the Biden Administration. --Bob

Donny, who had four full years to find the guy, and failed. He wasted resources instead trying to find everyone, which everyone knew was an impossible task. President Biden is taking the sensible tack of focusing enforcement resources on people who are actually dangerous. That still won't catch everyone, of course, but it'll catch a lot more of the people we really don't want living among us. --BobBeebs52 wrote: ↑Wed Jul 13, 2022 5:01 pmAnd who hasn't pursued these people?Bob78164 wrote: ↑Wed Jul 13, 2022 4:51 pmThanks. The Indiana doctor who helped the 10-year-old girl not have her rapist's baby is now being investigated by the Indiana Attorney General, for having the temerity to help a 10-year-old girl not have her rapist's baby. I'm sure the AG is stating different reasons, but we all know what's actually going on. More importantly, so do other doctors in Indiana who are also in position to help 10-year-old girls not have their rapists' babies. --Bobsilverscreenselect wrote: ↑Wed Jul 13, 2022 3:46 pmUp until the arrest, right wing media was claiming the story was all a Democratic hoax. It seems you are justifying the availability of abortion on demand by providing an example of the most justified (based on a personal assessment) but one of the least occuring situations.
This is the same approach used by many to justify gun ownership, to justify lax voting rules, or stricter voting rules, or to justify about anything. I'm not a fan of this type of argument for anything. We should not make decisions, laws, operate as a society based on the slightest exception.

No, I'm using this as an example of the utter lack of compassion shown by most elected Republicans, who would instead set us on the path to Gilead. It illustrates that things really are just as bad as I've been saying. And the more voters who understand that, the stronger the recoil will become, and the sooner we can turn away from a path that leads to Handmaids.BackInTex wrote: ↑Thu Jul 14, 2022 10:36 amI find your commentary interesting.Bob78164 wrote: ↑Thu Jul 14, 2022 10:03 amThe Indiana doctor who helped the 10-year-old girl not have her rapist's baby is now being investigated by the Indiana Attorney General, for having the temerity to help a 10-year-old girl not have her rapist's baby. And let me be clear -- this is clearly a performative act on the part of the Indiana Attorney General. Even if he thought that the doctor had done something to justify an investigation, there was no non-political reason to announce the investigation. The fact of an announcement makes it clear that the Attorney General's goal is to give pause to other Indiana doctors who are considering helping 10-year-old girls not carry their rapists' babies to term. --Bob
